Anybody go to Keiser?

U.S.A. Florida

Just wondering if anybody went to or is going to Keiser University's nursing program?

I only used Richland for a small loan, $2000. The loan I will be needing for 2012 is much more than that, so who knows if I will get approved again. Big difference between $2000 annd over $30k. I am ineligible for grants, Pell, etc due to income. I will be eligible for the federal loans that pretty much everyone is entitled to, but that is still not enough, hence the reason for my first post. I wanted to see if anyone else was in my situation and made it through. But to answer your question, I only took one class last semester, which was about $2000, and Richland covered that (I am currently paying on it monthly). I do not know what my score was at that time, but the school told me it was a "last resort loan" since credit did not matter. But, keep in mind I also have an income to back up the loan, and that may have been a factor. It's been hard getting answers or even in touch with someone at the school right now, to the point I have applied at other schools as a fall back.

I finished my pre-reqs May 2011 at a community college, passed my TEAS test, went thru the Nursing Interview with the Program Director, and finally did my financial aid appointment 2 days ago. Everything has gone smoothly so far, all I have left is a one week orientation at the end of July, and I'll start the program August 29th, here at the Port St. Lucie campus!

Hello, I'm looking for a use study guide to take the TEAS at Keiser. Anyone who would like to sell it?

Anyone attending Keiser U in Sarasota? Please let me know your experience. I'm currently trying to get in. I wonder how it works for the financial aid.

Thank you for anyone who gives their side.

I am actually going through the admissions process right now to start Keiser's nursing program and I have taken the wonderlick test and passed with a 26 (you only need a 20) to continue on with the admissions process. Then you meet up with the nursing admissions advisor and she talks to you about tuition... and the teas test. The teas scores to pass have changed a little from past times.... the new scores that the admissions advisor wrote on paper for me like a week ago are:

Reading- 76

Math- 75

Science- 56

English- 70.... not 76

After you have passed the teas test, you have an interview with the nursing director and bring a portfolio, which includes your resume, 3 professional letters of recommendation, and a letter to the nursing director written by you. It's really not that bad...

You have to have a 3.0 GPA from all of you gen ed's and if you don't have all of your classes completed, as long as you sign saying you will take them soon, you can continue with the nursing process as long as you have a 3.0 and your GPA would not drop below a 3.0 from getting the lowest passing grade possible from gen ed's you still need to take...

I hope this helps! I was really concerned with Financial Aid but the nursing advisor told me that once you have been accepted into the program, you sit down with a fin aid counselor and they will help you out with everything!! :-)

nursingstudent_12kp- how did you do on the teas? what were your scores how did you study? i will be attending the lakeland campus ,any tip or advice to be successful with the teas...i'm nervous and a emotional wreck please help me email me:[email protected] thanks anyone with info please email me thank you thank you thank you in advance!

hello,

so keiser doesnt require you to complete chm1033 or mac1105??

How much is not Nursing Program at Keiser? When I ask they (Keiser officials) seem to stray far away from my simple question.

I did well on the TEAS... I have passed every section except reading... so i retake that this saturday "/

Keiser does not require you to complete either of those courses... the courses you need are:

English Composition

Int. Algebra

Psychology

Intro to Computers

Humanities

AP 1

AP 2

Micro

Human Development

Keiser's program is aprox 24k.... I know... freaking ridiculous!! but it is that much for a reason, they offer you so much. For instance, smaller classes so you have more one on one time for yourself, they give you practice tests mocking the NCLEX throughout the entire program, they offer you scholarships/loans etc just for going to a private school instead of a public school..... like me, I got a 25% discount off of tuition just because one of my family members is a school board employee....

So dont stress. Once you have been accepted, a financial aid advisor sits down with you and discusses everything!! :) Hope this helps.

are you already in the nursing program? how is it? is it hard? what are the hours and days? does financial aid cover your books? I have an associate of arts and have completed all prereqs, and since I have an AA, I don't need to take the wonderlic test.

here it says that for humanities you need Literature, is it really mandatory to have this american literature done, or can you cover the humanities section with other humanity classes you have taken in your associate of arts?

You say is around 24k, I'm assuming this cost is just for nursing program, right?

So, basically what I have to do first is apply to the school, pay $250 for school and nursing program, then take the teas, which I read is free for the first time, if my scores are good and my prereqs are good, then I can apply for the nursing program, and have an interview with the program director, get accepted, and then deal with financial aid?

It doesn't seem too hard, my only concerns are the TEAS and setting up that portfolio with 3 letters of recommendation.

U forgot to mention what guides or books you used to prepare for the teas, also that scrub you wearing in your avatar, you wear that for keiser?

Anyone attend the Melbourne campus? If so, can you please share your experience? Thanks.

Specializes in Emergency.

I attend the Melbourne campus. I am in my second semester of the nursing core: Basic M/S and Maternity. I'll be done in December. I love it so far! The instructors have been fantastic. Clinicals are going great. Anything specific you'd like to know?
