hi! I am offered a contract with Global Nursing Solutions which is represented by 21st century Manpower Resources Inc. here in the Phils.
Any nurses under this staffing facility? I would be glad to hear your own experience from this office.
They offered a starting rate between $22-26/hour...but they say in the contract that it depends on the state because they have many affiliated hospitals all over US.
They informed me that I have to wait the maximum of 3 years to be deployed. I am willing to wait. I just want my papers to be processed now.
Pls. share your experience. Thank you
I'm not familiar with agencies, but are these the same agencies that place traveler nurses and nurses looking for temporary work? If so, then I'd stay away because I'm seeing that in our hospital that they're steering away from those agencies because of the strong union that we have...If our hospital is doing it, then most likely other big hospitals are doing the same since most of them are also under the same union....good luck
This is an agency that recruits to bring foreign nurses to the US, it is not the same as the per diem agencies or the travel companies that do short-term contracts in the US.
But as you stated, you are not seeing many in the way of travel nurses at the moment or agency per diem nurses. And both of these categories usually have significant work experience in the US behind them as well.
Listen up nurses, and please listen good.
With retrogression in place, anyone who is just being interviewed now or is just being asked to submit documents, can be guaranteed of a probable date of deployment. Please don't allow your strong desire to leave the country cloud your better judgement. In short, don't be selective with just what you want to hear. The truth, good or bad, is what you have to ultimately contend with.
You mentioned guaranteed date of deployment.
Sorry, but there most definitely is no such thing. Agencies and employers have absolutely nothing to do with visa issuance at all. The US has been under a retrogression for more than two years, and expected wait because of all of the applicants from your country is going to be 7 years for a chance at a visa.
Whatever is being promised, does not hold water. And with the state of the economy as well here, any agency is going to be hard pressed to actually have work for you when the time comes, if it does. That means that all of the wait will be for nothing and everything will be cancelled out by the US government.
Does not matter if they are willing to submit a petition for you at this time, there is still the retrogression in place and it is not going to let up anytime soon.
And be very careful with any agency, look at the cancellation fee that you will be liable for if you cancel out later on, and we have seen them as high as $45,000 US.
and to all nurses who are going to be deployed here in the u.s. anytime soon please..if you worked with an agency please fulfill the contract that you signed with them. They might have offered you an hourly rate which is too good to be true but of course when you started working you'll discover the difference between the hourly rate of nurses who are directly employed by the hospital vs your own rate given by your agency. Please don't do a breach of contract or asking other hospitals to buy your contract. I heard that in Arizona, hospitals dont want to hire any more international nurses because of this attitude. This will affect other nurses who are still there in pinas waiting for an employment here in the u.s. For those who have passed all the exams, do practice iv therapy skills, assessment and your sbars. If you're a volunteer nurse, do volunteer work in the e.r.
i think i've heard of this global agency. is this agency for deployment in california? i have two friends who went thru this a few years ago when i was still in pinas, one is in southern california and the other started in the bay area. my friend nicole said that they promised for her to work in kaiser permanente hospital but upon deployment she ended up in a psychiatric unit. which wasn't really good because we were workin on a general med-surg floor at that time. anyway both of their contracts ended already since last year and are now enjoying their jobs free of this agency.

i think you raised a very good point, popotski. exploitation can work both ways. if one accepts a contract based on a certain hourly rate, and enjoys all the freebies, especially the worry-free processing by the employer's organization, one should honor the agreement as long as everything is on the up and up. it gives everyone a bad rap whenever a contract is recinded due to money issues that arise after a nurse has become a landed immigrant in the us. it's simply wrong........
hi! I didn't push thru with GNS because I read some not so good comments with them by surfing the internet....I signed up with another agency....God bless on your job hunting....
hi foxine girl!
i've been searching the net about global nursing solutions. what is it that you read which are not so good comments?
may i know where you found it? btw, what agency did you signed in? I hope you could reply. Best of luck to you!
They might have offered you an hourly rate which is too good to be true but of course when you started working you'll discover the difference between the hourly rate of nurses who are directly employed by the hospital vs your own rate given by your agency.
Absolutely, because the hospital is paying the agency or staffing firm the full rate and they are turning over a chopped up rate to the nurse.
When you get an offer from an agency or staffing firm use contacts with the Philippine Nursing Associations in the state you intend to work and make sure the rate they are promoting is accurate to what the nurses are making there.
On that subject, make and use contacts with nurses already working in the USA and try to get the job yourself without going through an agency.
If you are going through an agency just because you need someone to prepare and handle your paperwork then you don't have to do that.. there are now a few specialized companies which can help nurses to prepare the paperwork correctly, the better ones will provide money-back guarantees and certify that you will get the papers handled properly.
Of course, this does NOT apply to visa/immigration applications... only the US government can issue those so NOBODY can make guarantees where that is concerned.
There are many alternatives for immigration, not just the working visas and such; you should consult an immigration attorney to get the right information on the right way to go.
Stay independent and stay strong, respect yourself as a Filipino and as a nurse and never let anyone take advantage of you!

Most agencies do not pay for the English and VSC; if they are willing to pay for it, then it will come out of your pay. Please be aware that you will be signing a contract where you are looking at waiting probably about seven years for a chance at a green card with the way that things are now as well as the number of applicants that are already ahead of you. How do you know what you will be doing or where you will be that far out from now?
Agencies and employers do not offer visas, only the US government does.
