Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone--

Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?

Crossing my fingers...!

Ouch! I will keep my fingers crossed for you. I am sorry things will remain up in the air for you for another few months...

The wait was worth it. I got in. Happy, incredulous, stunned barely begins to describe my feelings. Next challenge... how I will feed and clothe my children for that 1st year? Deep breathing...one thing at a time. Congratulations to everyone who got in and sincere and heartfelt sympathy to those who did not or who are waiting as alternates. This has been a long, anxiety provoking process for all.

Thanks Shielanagig!

Stellar video-I've Got Life!! yes WE do!

Has anyone else not gotten a letter? I checked my mail yesterday and there was nothing. I got my interview letter at the same time as everyone else, so this seems a little odd to me. If it's not in my mailbox today I will definitely give them a call since I'm 3 hours ahead.

Looking back on this board, I think you're okay. It seemed that the East Coasters got their letters a little later than others.

Shelianagig, I sincerely hope you move off the waitlist. Keep the faith, and I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

SFto Redwood, that goes for you too. I hope that things move and that you get to attend.

Sending you both lots of luck, and hoping for good news for both of you. :)

goLucy, congratulations.

nightnurse007, have you heard yet?

Got my letter last night. #2 on the waiting list for the Advanced Community Health & International Nursing specialty. Bummer. Don't really see 2 people deciding not to go...but I'll still keep my fingers crossed. In the meantime, gonna do what it takes to ensure I get in next year... Congratulations to all who got in--I hope to see you either in June or next year.

Here's my MEPN story, to encourage both hope and tenacity:

2006: 3rd alternate, Gerontological NP

2007: 1st alternate, Gerontological CNS

2008: Accepted!!!, Gerontological CNS

I am entirely ecstatically thrilled and grateful to be on this path at last!!

What was different this year? All three years I had decent faculty interviews and fantastic, inspiring nurse manager interviews, so that hasn't changed. I'll never know what exactly launched me into the winner's circle this time, but I now have even more volunteer experience (both more years at previous jobs and a new clinic job), I became a CNA (intense, ground-level nursing experience!), and I have taken multiple additional prereqs for other nursing programs which will no doubt be useful for MEPN too. I made it clear in my interviews that I would find my way to Gerontological nursing no matter what.

Eagerly looking forward to starting this nursing adventure with you all at UCSF this summer, and best of luck to those not yet admitted... keep trying, it's worth it!!

No mail today for central new york area.

Sorry! What a horror for you eastcoasters. Perhaps tomorrow will bring good news...

Letters haven't arrived in Portland, OR either.

I shouldn't care since I've already decided on Yale.

But, I don't want the wounded ego if it's a no. Maybe I will recycle it unopened (lol, like I could do that).
