Any UCSF Mepn Applicants?

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi everyone--

Has anyone else out there applied to the UCSF MEPN program? They're supposed to send out letters this month (December) for the interview process. Has anyone gotten a letter yet? Will those that aren't asked to the interview process get a rejection letter now?

Crossing my fingers...!

Ukulele, congrats and welcome to the new MEPN Family!!!

Hey all, best of luck to all of you who'll be starting in a few months. I didn't make it the first time around but will be re-applying again this year. I've talked with a few applicants who seem to be very well qualified and have not gotten in or who have had to re-apply and re-apply. With such a well qualified group, I was wondering what it was that you all talked about in you letters of intent. Just curious. Cheers, Ahn

Hello Anh77,

I am not sure if I will be of my much help, but I talked about why I wanted to do nursing and talked about my experiences, such as work, volunteer, life that support my reason to become a nurse. I hope this helps.

Hi all! It's been a few months since anyone has posted so I not sure if anyone is still checking this, but I thought i'd give it a shot. I just turned in my app for fall 2010, and I'm happy to be done, and excited about the prospect of a possible interview...and then hopefully entry into the program!! I am just writing to see if there are any current MEPNs who could let me know what pathophysiology textbook you use for your first summer course. I still have to take a few pre-reqs, so i'm not sure i'll have the time to take a patho class before getting in (positive thoughts!), and I've heard that some people wish they had more exposure to the material before the start of the program due to its difficulty, speed, and the amount of material covered. Just thought it might be nice to do a little studying on my own at least, if I can't squeeze a class in. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks and I hope you're all doing well in the program!

MPCali - I wouldn't worry too much about pathophys preparation. It's definitely not the easiest class, but the program as a whole isn't as difficult as some say. If you're dedicated and focus on doing well without getting caught up in getting 100% on everything, you should be fine and you'll end up learning the things you need to know to be a good nurse (one thing people in the program seem to be learning this year is that the need to be right/perfect all the time can actually be to their detriment as a student and a prospective nurse). I say, enjoy your time out of school, focus on your prereqs, and spend lots of loving time with friends and family since the first ten weeks of the program are pretty time-consuming (but they're still fun and exciting). Good luck with everything! Definitely search this site for interview tips, as the questions don't seem to change much from year to year!

I was just checking on my app status & it says that my BS transcript from the school I graduated from wasn't available/received. Does anyone else's say that? I'm scared my app is incomplete & I'm not eligible! Am I the only one?...

Hi,

I am preparing to apply for MEPN program in 2011. I would really like to get some advice on how to write a glowing personal statement or become more competitive. Is there any current or graduated MEPN student willing to provide me some guidance?
