I went with dansko's only thing is around the top of my foot it seems tight? The sales woman told me that's the way they fit till they are broken in? Help lol

Yes the top part over your instep will loosen up in time. Just make sure you have room in the back for your heel to slide up and down. And get regular leather, not patent. Regular leather will give over time. The patent leather... Not so much.

They may need to be broken in OR you may have to go up a size...most Danskos are in European sizes, so bear in mind for that, a well as needing a wide width instead of a normal width.

Thank you!!! I considered blow drying them while on for a little stretch lol

I went up to a 7, I'm usually a 6, I wasn't aware there was wide with, thank you!!!

All of these are good shoes, not sure I can add to the list, but what REALLY work for me during these 12 hour shifts is a second pair of shoes. I start out in one pair and around lunch time switch shoes. I find that no matter what shoes you choose, there are going to be pressure points and after 12 hours any shoes hurt, a mid day switch moves the pressure to other areas of the foot and as a result your feet feel better.

If you go the Dansko route, make sure you try them on before you buy. If you're like me with flat feet, there's a very good chance you'll find them insanely uncomfortable! I didn't even want to walk around in them in the store much less wear then for 5+ hours of clinical!!

Thanks! I tried them on an actually breaking them in now, I like them so far just going to take some time to get used to

I swear by Nike Shox. I went through LPN school with them. I'd put them on at 5am and they didn't come off until at least 11pm. Never once did I ever think, "I can't wait to take my shoes off'. When I started working as an LPN I got Dansko's. Loved them too. I never had them on for more than 10 hrs. The only problem with the Dansko's for me was at least half a dozen times a shift, I'd roll my ankle in them. Never hurt myself because I caught myself before anything happened, but it could have been bad. That is the only bad thing about them for me.

During RN school, I couldn't find any Shox in the stores so I went with anothe brand...hated them. I'm working the floor now and I'm back in my Shox. Love them.

Does anyone have suggestions for a shoe for heavy duty people? I need them to be sturdy and wide width.

Allegria has a special wide insert that I like. I have a wide foot and tend to be hard on my shoes--scuffing them, tripping into stuff in them. My allegrias are a little more comfy than my danskos. But both work.
