I read that the average nurse is 48 years old and I'm 49 years old. Most everyone I work with is 22-40 years old. I just got to wondering if any of you are a September 1955 baby? I was born 9-10-55 .

Well, I was born in September, but in 1958 so I'm 46 and still working...tee hee hee. I'll let some of the younger staffers push my wheelchair in a few years - lol.

I'm 9/26/55! Forty Nine and doing fine. :chuckle
ETA: I'm in community health. Pays less than hospital nursing but I get a great pension, 4 weeks of vacation, all weekends and holidays off. Low stress. I loved hospital nursing for the years I did it but this job can take me through to retirement.
Good to hear I'm not the only 55'er here!
this september baby is thinking about going into case management. at my hospital they work 8 hour shifts, wear regular clothes, get to eat lunch in the cafeteria, don't work nights, don't work weekends, and don't work holidays. woo hoo !!!

My feet hurt, my knees crick, my back's sore, and I can still bench press that weight bar! Love my ER, don't have to go to a bar to get drunk, just inhale

December 10, 1955.
I guess I'm right in there as well!!!
Got my BSN about 10 years ago, and still am at the bedside (OR table that is :chuckle )
Right now, not interested in doing anything else!
In this day and age, and AT my age, I don't need any more hassles!
Sore feet, working two jobs, and probably don't have a whole ACL if you combined both my knees, I think I still hold up my side, and others too, at times. :)

Hi - September 30, 1955 baby here. I work in a CV/SICU with folks ranging from new babies fresh out of school to some several years older than me. Only have five years to retirement!
