Any Recent Hesi test takers out there? Maybe in the last week or so etc....

Nursing Students HESI

Published

I take my hesi next week the 14th. I'm studying now and just want to hear some different feedback. I have read posts about the hesi from others on here but some have been older posts from months ago. Come on and spill the beans! We have to look out for each other thats what being a nurse is all about working together with others and helping those who are in need. I'm in need. Anyway I look forward to hearing everyone's experience.

I took the end of December, and then again at the end of January. It was really easy. Probobly because I way over prepared for it.

What would you like to know?

I took every section but Physics (its not requiered for the school im trying to get into) :)

One school takes the reading, vocab, grammer, and Math, the other school is taking all of that along with Anatomy. The one that doesn't take the A&P I'm taking that one first next week the 14th and the next one will be on the 22. So I should do really well I feel but I'm not sure. I have the study guide. Can you tell me how you studied? Was the Vocab hard or did the book help. On the anatomy did it help with the book or did you have to look at other resouces. I have not really studied the anatomy because I don't need it for my first test but I will study after I take the first test so I won't be overwhelmed. The Math did it have alot of conversions. I'm trying to learn them by hard so I won't mess up on that part.

I studied from the HESI study guide, and i bought some HESI flash cards from amazon.com. The HESI flash cards were kinda a waste, but they had a lot of vocabulary words that came in handy. Also I took a remedial math class (to get back into the swing of things with fractions and such) And last I had my first semester of A&P done. Since I took A&P I the biology, chemistry and most of the Anatomy and Physiology sections were pretty easy. Oh and also I spent a good half hour a day on quizlett. Its a free site where you can study flash cards and such. A lot of people put the HESI study guid on there.

So make sure you can do that! :)

to Tinman1017: What flashcards did you buy from amazon?

I got these ones Amazon.com: Used and New: HESI A2 Flashcard Study System: HESI A2 Test Practice Questions & Review for the Health Education Systems, Inc. Admission Assessment Exam (2011)

If the link didnt work, just type in HESI A2 flashcards in the Amazon search.

It also comes with a link where you can get two HESI pratice tests. Some of the questions that were on my HESI test were actually on those two pratice tests.

Hi, Tinman1017, I can't help but apppreciate how helpful your feedback is. Please how and where do you register for the HESI A2? what is the cost to register? Thanks in advance!

Your welcome!

You'll have to check with the school your applying to. I am trying to get into the local community college and I scheduled it through them. They allow us to take it twice. And it was $30 a shot.

The reason you take it through the school is because not all the schools require all the sections. (if that makes sense)

My school has us take everything BUT the physics sections.

And Ive saw on here some schools only require reading, math and vocab. Its all up to the school! :)

I JUST A HESI THE OTHER NIGHT. i FIND THEM VERY EASY I REMIND MY SELF THAT THERE ARE MULTIPLE CORRECT ANSWERS BUT I NEED TO FIND THE BEST ANSWER. REALLY STUDY HESI TEST STRATEIES LOOK ERY CAREFULLY AT THE WORDING OF THE QUESTION BECAUSE SOME TIMES IT GIVES YOU THE ANSWER IN THE WORDING. LOOK FOR KEY WORDS NEGATIVE AND POSITIVE.

Thanks amartinez5082. I just took the hesi yesterday and I got a 84%. Hopefully this will be enough to get in because you had to make atleast a 75%. Anyway here is the waiting game.:w00t:

I took in in December 2011. The school that I'm taking my prereqs at allows you to take it twice per year, so I signed up for the first round even though I knew I wouldn't have time to study beforehand. I figured it would be a practice run to see where my weaknesses were and retake it in January. I scored a 92%, with my lowest subsection score being an 88% (A&P). It was not a difficult exam at all - just the basics.

Since then, I've reconsidered the program at my current school (because of scheduling conflicts with work) and am applying for a 3-year, part-time program at a hospital-based school. I will be taking the PSB-RN next weekend for that program. Now, that I'm halfway thru A&P II, I hope to do better on that section.

Wow thats great snow_bear. I just took my Hesi Wednesday and I made a 84%. my reading was the lowest grade but the school looks at your english composite score and your math and you had to have atleast a 75%. I'm glad I meet those requirements now I have to wait and see if I'm accepted.
