Any Penn Valley grads and/or students?

Published

Has anyone here graduated from the Penn Valley ADN program or currently a student? I finally get to start my nursing classes in the fall (it's been a long wait). I am very excited but it would be nice to talk to others that have been in it or are currently in the program. I am doing the weekday classes and was curious about the time involved as far as classes/clinicals etc. Any information would be helpful.

Thanks,

I saw that no one has replied to your thread and was wondering how it was going for you. I am taking pre-reqs in the fall and hope to go to the nusring program at Penn Valley. I am worried about all the talk I hear about the wait. Was it really that long? I am getting a little discouraged. Any info would be great. Thanks!!!!!!:lol2:

Iam currently an LPN student at penn valley. i dont think i could have waited that long! i got in really fast into the program. after i graduate in the Dec i will bridge over and get my RN. Penn valley is a great school so dont worry about it. everwhere i have done my clinicals.. they all say the penn valley students are the best! so thats a little encouraging. its a tough program though and u just gotta keep that nose in the book. our class started out with about 65 students and its now down to about 45. some people didnt make it and some people quit for personal reasons.. just remember to always put school first and you'll be fine!!! congrats and good luck to ya!!

Fortunately, I had applied back in 2001, and they still had that old application (they go by your application date). I had to retake my science classes, so that is what I have been doing the past year and a half. I took the NET test last fall, and then I got my letter that I was accepted into the Fall 2006 class. Alot of people do go the LPN route, because there is such a wait. I am very excited to finally start!

congrats wendy i also submitted an app to the rn program at pv i have to take my pysc class and thats it then i will apply for the net to be taken in the spring. do you have any fyi on the net is it hard in regards to math plese help

I am a penn valley adn student. i am graduating in december. The first semester is tough just because it is a totally different environment. After that things get a little bit better because you. But i can not give you any estimate because it is totally different for everyone. It did not take me near as long to do clinical paperwork as it took some of my friends. Let me know if this was any help.

I thought the math on NET was very easy--just the basic math-multiplication, fractions, figuring percentages. I had a harder time with the timed reading of the passages and then answering the questions. I kept looking at my time left and it made me nervous.

Did you have all your other classes out of the way before you started with the nursing classes? Where did you do your clinicals? I got my schedule for the fall. It looks like the first 3 weeks are going to be very busy with the basic skills labs.

I had all my classes out of the way except microbiology which i took in the summer. i would definetly recommend not taking any other classes with your nursing classes. it makes it alot easier to just focus on nursing classes. my first semester i did clinicals at john know. second semester at western missouri and truman. third semester at childrens mercy and research belton. i thought reasearch belton was absolutely awful. it was really boring there but all the other sites were not bad. i thought truman was awesome. you definetly get to see and do alot there. good luck i hope everything goes good for you!!

hey--I am starting my second semester (OB, Med Surg, and Psyche) and am pretty excited. I loved 1st semester and thought Pat (the instructor)was too funny! :)

I want to second that you get all your non-nursing stuff out of the way before you start clinicals. Too stressful otherwise.

I graduated a little over 2 years ago from PVCC. I thought it was a good program, and prepared me well for the workforce. I can't remember how long it took me from the time I applied to the time I actually got in (I don't recall the wait being forever).

Good luck!

Congrats and good luck on the program..Iam a junior in the same program, and it's fun but requires alot of sacrifice of your time to study. Skills lab is not a lot difficult if you follow the guidelines, which by now Iam sure you are used to..anyways..have a great day..
