Any new grad jobs?

U.S.A. New Jersey

Published

Hello, I have my BSN, passed the NCLEX, just received my license information and I have applied to many hospitals since I graduated. Unfortunately, it seems as though not many are hiring new grads.

I was just curious if anyone new of any hospitals in NJ that are hiring new grads? or if anyone had any contacts that could direct me to? or knew of any upcoming career fairs?

Any help is greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Updated news flash.....Does anyone do anything on the Internet besides Facebook of Farmville? Did anyone bother to think "Hmmm, I'll be graduating in a couple of years, I think I'll look in the want ads NOW to see what people want." So if that means you work as a CNA, then good for you. It's the "Whoa is me" attitude that so many new graduates have when looking for a job. And another news flash: Hospitals aren't hiring! (Must be the 10th time I've posted that, but so many of us in la-la land refuse to believe it).

I just got a job as an RN in a hospital in North Jersey and I'm a new grad... So they are hiring... And I didn't work their while I was in school .... ohh and by the way I also didn't spend my free time on Facebook playing Farmville either

try loving care, psa, and starlight. all three of those agencies hire new grads and start at around 27/hr in nj. homehealth pediatric agencies for others who are still looking for a job! congrats on ur job offer!!!

God bless!

Congrats Ashley on your job! :yeah:

A friend of mine recently called Starlight and they told her they don't have any openings right now.

Working as a CNA DOESN'T count as nursing experince and it won't necessarily help you get a job upon graduating. I worked for two years as a CNA while in school, and like everyone else I still had a hard time getting a job. Also when your in nursing schools a lot of professors recommend that you DON'T work as a CNA until maybe your last semester. I actually had one professor tell me I would most likely fail her class because I worked too many hours, and my response to her was "are you going to pay my bills" and to spite her I got an A.

The truth can't be ignored, right now it's hard for any new grad to get a job but it's possible and hospitals ARE hiring. It's frustrating to see the 1-2 years of experience on every application post but that doesn't mean you shouldn't apply. I applied to every position that didn't require a particular certification no matter what the years of experience stated and the position i accepted wanted 1-2 years as well.

GOOD LUCK AND STAY POSITIVE

Nicole--you spend too much time on MySpace and texting your "friends" about how lucky you are and how unfortunate they are! And if hospitals ARE hiring, as you claim, then there would be no need for all the "Why won't anyomne hire me?" threads.

tyler.. why are you so bitter? People are stressed out just looking and not finding a job. They do not need your negative commentary. If you have nothing good to say, then better not say anything at all because your only making yourself look like an a**.

P.S When you post a reply to this comment, FYI i will not respond back because i don't argue with fools. have a GREAT DAY!

What hospital is this? I'm from North Jersey. If they are hiring I will apply there.

Do any of you belong to the NJSNA-------------New Jersey State Nursing Association???? They send via email job offerings that occur. Also, if you belonged as a student it might help you with networking.

I'm working at St. Joe's in Paterson.

Hi Nicole

How do you like St Joes ? Im will be finishing school next semester and I would really love to work in NYC but I am open to NJ as well! Thanks for your help! Also, I wonder how hard Hackensack is to get into?

I have 26 years of experience, and have been looking for over 6 mo for a job, I had a few interviews, then no call back, or I get a "we are looking at other candidates" so frustrating. I do know who you all are talking about (the rude recruiter).....I have never seen anything like that.
