Any Miami Dade College students going for the acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?

Published

I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.

Thanks for your interest!

anyone find out where's the cheapest place to get the HEP A and HEP B vaccine around here?...my doctor's office wants to charge me $150 for each...and there are 3 shots to take for this!!!

CMQT.. what i did was to take classes for the AA in nursing .. hope this helps..:)

I received my acceptance letter as well yesterday. If it helps I have a 3.73 and it was my second time applying to the Full time Generic option. Congrats to everyone who was accepted. And to those who were not, keep trying! Trust me, I was feeling pretty hopeless and negative too !

Congrats to everyone who got accepted! I haven't received anything yet but I'm keeping hope alive. When I applied, I was still taking human growth & development and my grade for that class was not reflected on my transcript. Will they take into consideration that I was not completely finished with all of my classes? Will they look at my updated gpa with that class included?

Crystal360, I really have no idea if they look at updated GPA's. But maybe you would have better luck calling and asking. But regardless, keep up the faith and good luck!

I had a question to everyone who got accepted, on the papers they sent us, it never said anything about the information session that they emailed us about for Tuesday. Is that still a mandatory session ?

Specializes in NICU.

JO0106,

I was wondering the same thing...

Does anyone know if there are scholorships of any kind available to Accelerated students, or is it just the Baptist scholarship for the Generic program?

It may be only for the Generic folks, because I >only

Well, I have no idea what the cut-off gpa was but obviously my 3.68 was not good enough to get in. :sniff: I guess I have no choice but to keep on moving. To everyone else who didn't get accepted, keep trying and don't give up!

I went to the medical campus today and I was able to speak to an advisor. I went to ask about the phlebotomy course but I also asked about the RN spring term because I applied for it. he told me that the cut off was around 3.6 for the spring. That about 1,015 people applies versus the 1,400 last term. Hope this helps!!!

Thanks for the info. Guess I was too close to the cutoff...maybe I will have better luck at BCC or Keiser.

Just wondering cause i got a 3.65 :( gpa; did u finish all ur pre- reqs? N did u apply 4 generic full-time in homestead or medical campus?

you can get accepted if you are in the last semester taking your final pre-reqs...but remember, they will only look at your current GPA...the current classes are not factored in, which may be a bummer if you need them to boost your GPA....also, what I was told by the dept. head is that you get placed in the campus you live closest too...you do not have a choice to pick homestead or medical, it all depends on where you live and that is how they start allocating the spots as they go down the list...maybe someone that got accepted can back me up on this?
