I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
I hate this waiting game!!! I applied for both Accelerated & Generic, and got the Scholarship letter. This really sucks waiting though! I've already been accepted to a nursing program (accelerated BSN), but it's at a private school so super expensive, and need to let them know pronto or I risk losing my spot ... grrr! I wish MDC would just send out the stupid letters & put us out of our agony!
Hey Jenn, you said you applied to a private school? Is it Barry? If it is, I know how expensive it is. I went there for undergrad. Tuition there is so crazy. My major was pre-PA but then I decided to do nursing. I was not going to go back there, I already owe so much in loans.
there's Kaiser, which is private and pretty expensive, there is always the LPN track, then do the Bridge program over to RN or BSN...that should eliminate competition from the accelerated and generic program ...also, have to be careful with the accreditation of the school...I'm hearing that UM is having problems AGAIN with their nursing program accreditation
I applied to Barry, but their Accelerated program that starts in January is already full, and I am NOT waiting around a year to go there (and take out a fortune in loans). I applied to a bunch of schools out of state.... I've been accepted to Drexel University in Philadelphia's Accelerated BSN program which I'm really pumped about, but would have to take out probably about $60k in private loans by the time it's over. Eep. Obviously, I'd love to get into MDC since it's so inexpensive, but I have to be realistic here ...
