Any Miami Dade College students going for the acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?

Published

I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.

Thanks for your interest!

nj640,

You are very right. No scholorships for Accelerated students are available. The Baptist Scholarship has made me reconsider the Generic program.

Has anyone made an appointment for their criminal background check and fingerprinting online yet? I made an appointment that said it was for a criminal background check, but does that appointment include fingerprinting as well?

Thanks guys

Mdcupcake...

It's a Level 2 background, so it should include the fingerprints...I selected my appointment for Wednesday...but it allowed me to select Kendall Campus or North Campus...I live a little closer to Kendall Campus, so I selected it, I should be Ok???...although I know the paper says North Campus School of Justice?

nj640,

Ok, I also signed up for an appointment at Kendall Campus this Thursday, hopefully it'll be fine since it was listed as an option

now to get the TB & drug test and Hep A/B vaccine...the Hep A/B vaccines pretty expensive and there are 3 of them spread out over 6 months or so...varicella not needed if you have had the chicken pox and you blood titer tests show the immunity...wow it's a lot of stuff

I think you are right about the location that they select for you. I live in west Kendall and will be going to the Homestead campus.

I saw some question in regard to the scholarship lecture tonight. This one is not mandatory, really. Everybody who wanted to make part of it had RSVP by the 16th.

I honestly think that this session is not only to talk about schorlarships, it looks more likely that it is a general orientation to all of those who got accepted.

So, who am I going to meet at the orientation tonight?

nj640, it is a lot of stuff. This morning I passed by my childhood doctors office to see if they could pull my records. and the secretary informed me that my chart had recently been destroyed, awesome, thanks :wink2:

Lahbsb, I'll be there tonight!

Just wondering cause i got a 3.65 :( gpa; did u finish all ur pre- reqs? N did u apply 4 generic full-time in homestead or medical campus?

I finished all of my pre-reqs except for human growth & development which I was only 1 day away from completing when I sent in my application. I applied for generic full-time at the medical campus. From what nj640 said, it looks like they never figured in my gpa with human growth & development included. I had a 3.65 but after I completed human growth & development it brought my gpa up to a 3.68 which is what I have now. Have you received your acceptance or non-acceptance letter yet?

MDCupcake- Will see you tonight then!

Whoever sees me, I'll be dressed in jeans, a long sleeved white shirt and a black belt. I will also have glasses on. Anybody can say hello :) I'll be happy to meet y'all!!!

Great. I'll be in charcoal pinstripe pants and a gray ruffled-ish top. Looking forward to meeting everyone!

Well I havn't hopefully I do get the letter soon cause the anticipation is killing me. It didn't take this long at least for me in the fall of 09.' And hope the cut-off for homestead is lower ((cause they place you were you live the closest)). But keep you updated!!

MDCupcake and Lahbsb,

I didn't see you guys. Well I came in a little after everyone was already seated. I was wearing a brownish-tan sleeveless skirt-suit with a black top underneath and my hair was in a bun. During the "question and answer" part, I was the one that asked when tuition would be due after registering for class. There were quite a bit of people there, huh?

Hey Shen,

Yes there were a lot of people. We actually found each other, and we realized we know each other from taking pre-reqs this summer. Its a small world :-). I heard that question asked, but I couldn't see who was asking. We came in and sat down around 5:30pm. By the way, congratulations AGAIN on getting in. I'm so happy for you! I know you've waited a long time for this. How did you like it tonight? Will you be trying for the Baptist scholarship?

All the best!
