Any males out there tired of the drama?

Published

Anyone out there get real tired about the constant drama, anxiety, and non stop worrying exerted by your female classmates? To me, it seems like the majority of them have nothing to talk about other than nursing school, tests, and frustrating about clinicals/instructors. This becomes very irritating for me anyways. Just wanted to know if any other guys out there find it highly annoying?

That sounds like the attitude one of the males in my nursing program had. At least... until he scored in the 40s on his ATI exam this morning.

Well, I have a 3.7 and just scored a 950 on the hesi without studying. Anyways, just wondering if anyone out there feels the way I do?

Oh snap, or something...

I can empathize with you, HumptyDumpty. I'm a guy that's just graduating and have spent the last two years surrounded by people overly worrying about every minor detail of the program. I'm glad to be free of the drama.

And just so we guys aren't stereotyped, I walked in, finished the HESI in 37 minutes, and scored an 1104-- highest in my class. No studying, no worrying, no drama. ;)

Hell ya man. Thank god there is someone out there thats normal, lol. I totally hear you though, I had a very similar experience with the HESI. From my experience, nursing school is not that hard, just full of constant BS. Go try to get a BS in organic chemistry for crying out loud, that is 10 times harder than trying to determine the most appropriate nursing response: "Tell me more about your problem." or "How does this problem make you feel?" Give me a break :icon_roll

Dude I totally know what you mean. I talk about school and clinicals quite a bit but I definitely make sure to balance it out with regular conversations too but its all drama with the ladies. I work in a hospital as a CNA and its the same thing on the floors with CNAs, Techs, RN, MDs etc. its always something, just too much drama to deal with sometimes. Some days are better than others but you just need to be ready for and embrace the drama now because its not going anywhere. Good luck brotha!

Men and women often react to stress in different ways to begin with. Humpty

Hmmmmmmmmm just browsing the age group. So informative :). Good Luck Gentlemen....you are going to need it.

I got my patho test results back yesterday. I was one of the only 2 ppl in the class to get over 100 (she gave us ALOT of overhead). I was having a terrible morning so I didnt shriek and foam at the mouth when I picked it up. I was actually kind of irritated cause I sort of sabotaged my grade in hw/quizzes thinking I was destined for at most a B in the class anyways, so the A+ was kind of mocking. When I got back home, I got a message from a female classmate saying I should get my ass kicked (exact words).

The irony is that the professor gives out Smartees (candy) to ppl who get over 100, and I always thought she was marking people as human pinatas. So when I saw the message, I just chuckled.

But ya, I noticed most of the guys in my class dont get involved with all the "group studying", which sounds like a cooker for inevitable drama and gossip.

If you're doing so well in your classes then why are you concerning yourself with the fact that other students are worried and studying and/or talking about school all the time. I'm not trying to be mean but I don't get how exactly their worrying about wanting to do well really affects you at all. Not everyone can breeze through nursing school like you've claimed to do and there shouldn't be anything wrong with that. If you guys are so good at it, then fine, be good at it, but I don't really get how it has anything to do with how the other students in the class should act. However by the way you've mentioned how you don't really want to be a nurse Humpty Dumpty, that could be one of the key differences and anyway, isn't the way that they worry and stress and constantly talk about nursing school kind of similar to the way you worry and get frustrated over how much they do it?

What are you implying?

I have my suspicions, but this sort of clever "frank subtlety" is exactly the kind of drama that bugs me. :p

yes i am tired of the drama!!!! many of the ladies in my class seem to, or tend to:

  1. rehash things that are resolved (we call that kicking a dead horse in the orifice)

  2. get all shook up over a single grade
  3. call out the instructor on student-to-instructor(1-on1) issue in front of the class
  4. continually complain

don't get me wrong i love the women in my class; i truly do. to be fair, our class has had some crazy stuff happen to us, like no instructor for patho, the school over-charged us $2000 and wouldn't give it back for 4 months, an instructor passed away half way through the semester without posting any grades, etc. it has been a rocky road for us; however, it is time to put all of that past us and move on!!! i am considered a leader at school, but when all that starts up and the powers-that-be are addressing the class, i have to leave. i cannot or will not cosign that kind of stuff any longer. the more i listen to it the more i get sucked in by it and start thinking in those terms.

i guess the main point for me is that i (and more likely 98% of the population) thrive on positive energy. when all the air gets sucked out of the room from the complaining, etc it not only effects me, it effects everyone. people do not realize how the negative energy disables them in every area of their life.

i do need to comment on the age issue that was brought up; how old is the poster that made the comment? perhaps you approached the issue sideways and ought to clarify what you are thinking.

so my brothers i want to just let you in on a little secret about the fairer sex:

they just can't help it; after all they are just a bunch of icky girls! :D
