Any Las Vegas Travel MS Tele Advice ?

Published

I am thinking of traveling to LV this spring. Can I get some input as to past travel experiences here. All is appreciated. Planning on moving. Using the initial travel assignment to uncomplicated the move and will look for permanent or per diem while working it.

I would suggest putting Las Vegas in the search box above and read the results. It is one of the least liked places in the country for actually working as a nurse. I would suggest getting a job in nearby California and going to Vegas on your days off.

Thanks. I have considered Lake Tahoe also. I have read the reviews. They are often dismal.

i had 8 patient on a tele floor with one aide for the entire of 40 beds. i don't know if it has changed but i worked at sunrise hospital

A travel assignment ?? Was the hospital staff supportive. Don't need my hand held just find that hostility towards travelers and floats etc tends to run wild in some places. Like to know about the culture of a place. Also is sunrise a system that you have to float through three hospitals ?? That's another thing I want to avoid. Thanks for the feedback.

I would stay far far away from Las Vegas as I have heard nothing but bad things from Las Vegas towards travelers

Yes I have also read things and did not think it was a good idea (and I'm not a complainer) based on the 8:1 patient nurse ratio on day shift. My recruiter also confirmed that ratio at Sunrise and said she's sent travelers there before who have survived (but who knows if all their patients did!) and did not want to send me for a first assignment. If you don't mind that, then you can start ASAP (I think they had 8 openings on tele when I was looking in November) you can start tomorrow!

Good recruiter! I'd keep her.

Hey, a Las Vegas nurse here with my 2 cents,

Places to avoid like the plague - Sunrise, Desert Springs, Mt View, North Vista, UMC

Places that could be ok for a few months - southern hills, centennial hills, spring valley, valley, summerlin

The best - san Martin, Siena, delima (dignity health st rose facilities - I believe they only use Nightingale)

The dignity health facilities are under the CNA union and have very strict nurse to patient ratios. In tele you will only have 5 pts. Let me know if you have specific questions. I've worked in quite a few of these facilities.

Great post! As this topic comes up every few months, I'll quote you. I'm going to guess the better hospitals are well staffed so fewer travelers? And that those hospitals get their pick when they do need travelers.

Travel nursing in Las Vegas to me is like travel nursing to Disney World :p ... I'll pass, thank you!

Lol. I can't stand Mickey Mouse. But work is work is work. Regardless of where. Just hard to get good input from the East coast. Thanks for the good info up there !!!!
