Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.
I just graduated from an accelerated program in Omaha, NE. My class was scared none of us would be able to find jobs, but many of us have found jobs we actually wanted (ie peds, ob, icu, and of course med/surge). Often I think having connections really gets you the "in." Many jobs are filled before they are even posted online here, because there are enough qualified people that know about them and are applying because they know someone who works there. Good luck to everyone in their job search!!

I agree with you. I know of one hospital that's not officially hiring but hired a new grad into ICU-- the new grad had some connections. That's just one example that I know of, I'm sure there are countless others.
Seems to be the same here in Massachusetts. Quite discouraging. It seems that most classmates who have gotten hospital jobs in Massachusetts have either had a connection (already working there in some capacity) and/or had special talents (phlebotomist, fluent in a language other than English). A few have gotten jobs in nursing homes. Others have gotten hospital jobs in Connecticut and the Carolinas. One is joining the Army. I hear Texas mentioned all the time.
I drove 40 minutes to an employment open house at a nursing home yesterday and as soon as the gate keeper heard that I was a new grad, she told me that they had as many new grads as they could handle and to fill out an application. I wasn't happy to have driven so far for so little. I would have said so but didn't think about it till I was in my car.
So, now I wonder if it would be helpful to take the Red Cross phlebotomy course, get that puncturing veins skill under my belt. Any thoughts on this?
I also think that I will start aiming for a job in one of the several areas of special interest that I have, and start getting educated in these areas, instead of trying for the med/surg job, even though I believe that getting that broad med/surg experience is valuable.

Hi! Could you tell me which hospitals you know are hiring new grads? And for starts dates when (in 2009 or in 2010)? I'm asking because I've spoke to recruiters in the following hospitals and all they have are internships to begin next year:
St. Luke's
Methodist
Ben Taub
Park Plaza
West Houston Medical
Memorial Hermann
Of course with these, interviews and positions are not guaranteed.
Do you know of any hiring for start dates this year. It'll suck to have to wait until January. Bills don't wait that long, they keep coming lol.
