  1. Sioux Falls, SD - Sanford Health is hiring! :)
  2. Our standing orders when a patient is admitted to either Acute Hospice, Inpatient Hospice (Respite), or End of Life Cares are: Atropine 1% 1-2 gtts every 1 hour prn. We try to get a scopolamine patch on these patients as soon as they start getting more secretions...then we move to the Atropine. However, with our End of Life patients, we don't always have the time to let the scopolamine work, so we end up using Atropine gtts and repositioning techniques to make the dying process more comfortable and peaceful for the patient.
  3. I would 100% recommend Med/Surg...A little background about myself: I got hired to Labor and Delivery...during my interview I asked what other positions they had open...they offered me three other positions - Medical-Oncology being one of them. I went home thought it over..I thought if I started in L&D I would never be able to keep my "nursing skills." I started on a Medical-Oncology floor 9 months ago...I can honestly say I have learned more in the past 9 months than I learned during my four years of nursing school. I love my job!! :)
  4. Congrats fotero - I was thinking about you!!! :)
  5. Believe it or not, your test sounds very similar to what mine was on Monday - the only change is that I had more like 7-9 SATA. I left the testing center, and I went home to start studying again...I was so scared. My board of nursing had my results up within 24 hours, and suprisingly I passed!!!! Just relax, this is a normal feeling, and I am sure you did just fine...you prepared yourself well...the wait is horrible I know, but treat yourself to a movie, dinner, shopping whatever to keep your mind off of the test!!! :) :) :)
  6. I couldn't imagine that you would lose the position. I am in SD and the facility that I am going to be starting at told me that if nurses don't pass boards the first time, they have a class they offer through the facility that they could take to help them study for boards the second time around. Like I said, I don't think you would lose the position, but I guess I can't speak for Mayo! Best of luck to you! :)
  7. I took the exam yesterday, had 75 questions, and found out two hours ago from my BON website that I PASSED!!!!! Good luck to those of you still waiting for results!!! :)
  8. I am with you also...I just got back from taking the NCLEX-RN...I had 75 questions, it took me about 1.5 hours to take it. I had two math questions, tons of medications (that I didn't know), probably 7 SATA, and lots of priority. I could always get it down between 2 and then I had to just try to think it out...I don't think my exam went to well in all honesty - I just don't have a good feeling. I wish the best of luck to all of you!!! :)
  9. I am doing the Kaplan QTrainer tests and have averaged 52-68%...so hopefully that's good? I have been using a few links on allnurses.com as well as some Saunder's Review just to supplement. I have a huge anxiety problem right now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
  10. I am taking my NCLEX tomorrow at 1215...I will pray for you (please pray for me too Good Luck!
  11. I think you are feeling the same as I am...I take my boards tomorrow, and I feel like there is still so much to learn. However, I know that I have to at least try the NCLEX and if I don't pass, well then so be it, at least I tried... I will kick myself if I don't try it. You have graduated nursing school, so you can do it! :) HTH
  12. Thanks for the encouragement - I take my boards on Monday, and I feel like I can't study anymore...I just want this to be over with (and pass of course)!
  13. I test on Monday, July 14th...super nervous - I passed PN boards with minimum amount on my first try. I so badly want to do the same this time!!! I have been studying Kaplan and Saunders. I plan to study from now until Saturday evening, and then I will try to relax all day Sunday. I just want to get this over with!!! Best of luck to all of us - - WE CAN DO IT! :) :) :)
  14. Better late than never - I don't come on here very often, but here is my two cents...I attended Southeast Tech from 2004-2006 (and graduated from their LPN program) ... AWESOME school. Instructors are very knowledgable and excellent at what they do. I have no regrets or hesitations with recommending this school to others. Their NCLEX pass rate was in the upper 90's when I attended. As far as them not being NLN accredited, I did not realize this (may have just become an issue in the last couple years), but I had no problem getting into a RN program. Hope this helps, even though it's late...! :)
  15. Good question, I have an oncology test next week as well!!
