Just found out Tuesday I am starting Nursing School in January at GCC. I have been going there for 3 years getting my pre req's out of the way and finally starting Nursing School. How do we find out our class schedule?

Never too early to find study groups

i just emailed you for the attachment you mentioned! Jan 9 is the week i start classes at GCC the study skills classes and math one and orientation. Im hoping to still work at least one or two shifts at the VA even after school starts. I guess Ill have to talk to the nurse manager on monday when i go in.

Hey Mandy,

I got your private msg, yha, I well see what happens with that. Hopefull, it will work or I'm screwed

Congratulations to you LuAnn!! Good to know there will be no prob finding a job! Thank you for all your help, us AZ students are very appreciative. Good Luck at the VA and in your new career! We are all green with envy....:kiss

Thrashej,

I got all of my books through B&N.com except for my Psychiatric book which was supposed to be published Dec 22 and has been delayed. I'm starting to get butterflies, just 'cause I'm excited to FINALLY get started. I have my math class Jan 5-6 and meet with the lab RN on Jan 6th for orientation or something. I'm excited to get to know the campus, I've only been there to register for my classes, never taken a class there before. I didn't get my steth for xmas (but I haven't gotten my present from my parents yet so it may be coming), other than that I'm ready to go.

I cant stay long but just wanted to check in and say hello. Yesterday I worked 12 hours in the LSU (ER) of the VA and Im going back in today from 730a-730p. I have all my books except that one Psuch book too. I think working has made me more nervouse for school to start than anything. I have seen what these nurses do and know and it seems impossible to fit all that in my head LOL.

On the bright side... I learned how to insert a foley, I drew blood on my own for the first time and i have done like 50 EKG's in a matter of one day plus i d/c like 3 IV's....HAHAHA  which BTW is perfectly legal in the VA hospital as i posted a few days ago to find out and recently inquired at the hospital... because they are a GOVERNMENT facility they surpass the State regulations on what a Nurse Assistant can and cant do...

K off to get ready for work... talk to you all soon!

Hey Italian!!

Good for you!!!! I did not see you post that you had got the job! Awesome acheivement!! In a way I am jealous that you are getting so much experience! I know what you mean tho when you say you see how much they do. I see that in the ER too! Anyway, CONGRATS!!!:yelclap:

I already had that job( in a different part of the hospital, I was in LTC now in ER) i have applied at John C Lincoln and had an interview last week and have my second one today at 330p. I hope i get this job because i could work nights after school.

Hey Everyone, I haven't been on in a while. It's Kelly, the one from patho @ cgcc. Hi Keli. Hope everyone had a great holiday. I was trying to buy the rest of my books and I was wondering about some of the editions. I left a message at the school, but no one has called me back. The pharmacology, is it the 4th or 5th ed. we need?

and Calculate with confidence 3rd or 4th?

When I log onto the school bookstore it is showing different than the paper I received with my packet. I was just curious if anyone knows for sure.

Thanks Kelly

Hi Kelly, glad to see you back. I got the Calculate with confidence 4th edition and I'm pretty sure pharmacology is the 4th edition as well. I know the list they gave us is wrong on a couple of the books. I can email you the list of ISBN numbers if you want. You can always wait until orientation and find out for sure. Then you'll be at the bookstore and can buy the books, or buy them on the internet when you get home.

Have you gotten everything else you need? I think I'm pretty much ready, I figure I'll figure out specifics once I start, like what kind of binder I'm going to use and if I need a clipboard etc etc. I still need a new steth, but I can wait on that, I don't start clinicals until May.

Hope your Xmas went well, we had a great time other than getting this cold everyone has...

Is that book out yet the psyciatric one that wasnt printed yet? I tried to call but i guess the school was closed all last week....:nono:

Hi, Sorry I didn't get back to you right away, Ive been trying to work extra hours until school starts. I'm currently bidding on a pharm book on EBAY and winning and it comes with the study guide too. I have my calculate book coming in the mail. I just need to find one of those nice wheeled packs to carry all these books in! Have you seen them at a reasonable price anywhere? With Christmas all the stores were such a mess I didn't really look. Hope you had a nice holiday. Maybe I'll see you around. Kelly
