I have been trying to find other COD nursing student hopefuls or current students anyone out there?
Good Morning, Time is definetely going in slow motion. How are you holding up? It sounds like you have a strong application so I am sure you will get in. I am trying to remain hopeful and in the meantime I am keeping myself busy. I am currently taking Medical Terminology, Sociology course (towards Bachelors) and either English 1102 in March or Nursing 1100. I don't know how it works as far as if you want to take Nursing 1100 in spring or summer. There's only one spring class with 25 seats...Do you know how it works? Is it first come first serve? Do they add a class? I am renewing my CNA and I take the state exam this Saturday so I have to brush up on my notes. I woke up early today, pilot light on furnace went out. Man is it cold in our house...not a good time for heat to not work..LOL

From what a current nursing student said the nursing 1100 is first come first serve basis. As is with all the nursing classes. He suggested get up early! Good luck on your exam!
Thanks for the boost in confidence on my app! I'm getting nervous and cold feet! I too have kids and I am thinking about what the right thing to do. Oye, not a good time for no heat!
Hey! I'm hanging in there. I just had my first exam for A&P II and am not sure how I did (but should find out soon).
I had been talking with a few students who also applied for fall 2011. I honestly think people are beginning to let their imaginations run wild with regards to who is going to get in and who's not. I should PM you, but yeah need to clean out that inbox.
From what I know from talkin with you, I'm sure you did well! What was it on? I have always wondered what a cod ap class was like. Especially if testing was the same. I can definitely testify when it comes to my imagination on how the selection process is going to work this year. Hey at least we are 5 days closer to really knowing how it is going to work!
The only new info I got was that books are changing for us. And not just editions but the books themselves!
I honestly didn't study as much as I should have. I am feeling a little burned out and just want to start nursing school. We covered the endocrine circulatory systems.
I hear that some COD A&P instructors are just too difficult to deal with, but mine gets the job done. If you show up to class and do the work, it should be cakewalk to get a C. With some effort, you can get a B. And an A is within reach for many (although not attained by many).
Do you by any chance know how much we will be spending on books?
Even though we have just started the semester, I will be happy when it's over. I think it's just the cold weather that's getting to me. Gas mileage is down, gas prices are up. It is tough at times to find parking at COD (snow piles everywhere!)
I was able to deduct my tuition from this past year so that will pay off when my tax return gets here :)
Good morning and Happy Valentine's day!
It has been interesting and insightful to read the conversations about the admission and application process to the ADN program.
It is indeed fact that we are attempting to make the process of "ranking" applicants more transparent, and based on data that in fact enhances students chances for success. You can even figure out your own "score" by going to http://home.cod.edu/Media/Website%20Resources/pdf/academics/programs/nursing/rankscore.pdf
While you may not know where your rank falls in comparison to all other applicants, you can at least see how you did or what you might do to improve your rank score.
As far as extending the application deadline until February 18, it was indeed due to the snow storm. The last possible advising session for this admission cycle was scheduled for February 1 and the college closed that day. The next one scheduled was for February 17, so we extrended the deadline to the 18th.
It will be at least two weeks after the deadline before letters of acceptance are sent out.
It sounds like those of you writing on this site are positioning yourself for success. I hope to see your motivated selves in the admission class of 2011.
