Any College of Dupage nursing students out there? Or hopefuls?

I have been trying to find other COD nursing student hopefuls or current students anyone out there?

We are supposed to get a boat load of snow on Tuesday....:crying2:

I understand what classed go towards GPA, but I still am not clear on what classes go towards points for completed courses. You can only count 8 classes so I am assumming they are not counting Anat I and Chem? So the 8 classes would be:

English 1101

Speech

Psych 2237

Humanities

Micro

Anat II

Math 1102

Nutrition

p.s. It's good to talk to people in my shoes. The waiting game is driving me looney. I am such a planner...

Oh, ok. You had the same question I did. Rscod, correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Deb verify that your best 8 classes (gradewise) will count toward the GPA calculation?

I would (logically?) conclude that if COD only requires only two classes to be completed prior to applying, they would not be so quick to dismiss the grades students receive in those two courses (making me believe that those two classes specifically should somehow be considered in GPA calculation).

Chic... The way Deb told me was the 8 classes just means those are the max number of classes that you can get points for. So all classes are included just you can only get 9 points for having the max 8 classes completed.

the adn program deadline is being extended to february 18, 2011 at 4:30 p.m.

I was about to write the same darn thing! Bull I tell you ! It's not fair. If we took the time to send in the app in time why do others that procrastinated get extra time??

But now that I think about it. What if it's because the lack of applications? And not the weather?

If I recall, we were told that the application deadline may be extended if there was an insufficient number of applications submitted by February 1. (I learned this at the group advising session.)

I think those people who had intentions of starting in the fall probably completed their applications on time. Perhaps the extension will allow those students who may have been considering other programs to throw their names into the (COD) hat.

I don't think it has anything to do with lack of applications. I think it has everything to do with they are only wanting to take the "cream of the crop"....They also probably added another PAX test date which it's so unfair to the people who have met the deadline. I am feeling really discouraged....can you tell? LOL I barely passed the PAX, but I met the requirments they set. I have all my pre req's done except for Math. Mostly A's, two B's. I am ready to start Nursing school. I have a two year window period where I do not have to work. I was told at the advising session this is the year to apply. I really hope you are right and it's just low applications. Let me know if you find anything out. Last year they sent out acceptance letters around Feb 15...when do they plan on sending out?

They never answered my emails about the date of letters to go out. But last year they extended it too. I doubt it's lack of people. It just doesn't sound like it. When I went to my advising and CNA advising sessions they were full!!!

If COD chooses to extend their applications deadline, I suppose it's their prerogative to do so. Yeah, it may seem unfair that people can take the PAX exam in Feb. but hey...I registered in Oct. for a Dec. test date, before I was aware that there were going to be additional test dates available in January (which many of my classmates signed up for).

I just wanted my misery of waiting to be over. Even if they extended i still believe I have a chance to get in.

So I figured out why the deadline was extended. I talks to Maureen which said it was most likely because of the weather and the fact that there was an advising session that day. For those last minute people. So some research later I saw that the next session isn't until the 17th. And whats the next day? The deadline!!!! It all makes sense.
