Hi, I'm a first semester student at CLC and would love to meet others to chat about a variety of topics!!!
One suggestion for all of you newbies in here: DO YOUR EBO's! That is where most of the questions on the tests come from. It can seem daunting, among all of the other stuff you have to do, but I'm telling you, I don't know how I would have passed without them. Ask lots of questions because they are confusing.
My classmates and I formed a really good study group where were assigned specific EBO's, and we would meet about 1x per month or so, to exchange info. We would all email our EBO's to each other, and then go over them at study group, and discuss any confusions or questions we had (and we usually had a bunch!) Then, if we could not satisfactorily answer the questions amongst ourselves, we would bring them to the teacher and usually get more clarity.
That is just what worked for us. It was nice to split the actual hard work up, but then go over every EBO, and we would put page numbers from the textbooks we found the answers in. (Work smarter, not harder!) I know everyone has their own way of doing things, so find out what works for you, but don't neglect your EBO's!!!
My daughter will also be there tonite. I am so nervous for my daughter - she has test anxiety.I'm am more nervous for her than me. Good Luck!
Well, I just got back. They actually had three different groups tonight!!! Crazy!
So, again, I feel I did very well on the Math, good on the Science, but the gosh darn vocab is freaking me out!!! If anything, that will DRAG my grade down again!
Did any of you leave feeling confident about vocab or were you all just as unsure as me??? I am PRAYING I did better than I think...we shall see in a few days!
What room were you in? I was upstairs in the technology wing.
I think science will be my worst one - I hate it! Vocab I am totally fine with. Math...we shall see.
I'm HOPING that my daughter did good enough! She wants to get in with me, but is starting with the excuses. You know like - if I don't get in that's fine, I'll take more requirement classes. Or she'll say - well maybe I'll go into dental hygiene. She is 100% positive I'll get in, but she's being really down on her chances. In addition, she's upset that I won't wait for her. I'm gonna be 37 - I can't wait any longer!!!

I agree...I wouldn't wait. Well, I was down on myself as well...let her know this was my fourth time and my first two scores, there was NO way I was getting in!!! She just needs to keep trying!! And I know someone in the dental hygiene program and they had much higher scores to get in!! You had to be in the 90's. Also, if she doesn't get in, tell her to start taking pre-req's and get those out of the way so her class load isn't so heavy!!!
I was in the second group I think. We went upstairs and then to the left and it was a room down there on the right...basically, if we were on the first floor, we would have been across from the bank.
Wasn't happy with the desk situation, but what can you do?!?! I prefer taking the test downstairs because they have tables and it's much easier to test on those! AND...they made us stay til everyone was done??? What was up with that? They never did that before - I think it was just the lady giving the test.
I really hope I get my results on Saturday...in June I did. We are leaving to go out of town Sunday and I want to know before I leave how well I did (that's right, I said it...WELL!!! Trying to stay optimistic here!) A friend is staying at our house to watch our dog and my husband said well, you can have him read them to you and I said NO WAY
!! I want to open them and read them myself...not have someone else open them for me and give me my results...I don't think he undertands though!
Now you already got a good score, right? You were just doing this so you could go with your daughter?
Well, I hope your daughter did well!! Let me know!
We are leaving tomorrow after I get out of school for the weekend, so I decided to "work" on Monday, so I can get home before anyone else and look for my grades. I already had a 96, but still nervous.
We had long tables that say 4 to a table. After everyone sat down she made everyone who had 4 to a table move to only allow 3 to a table. Why she couldn't tell us that to begin with - I have no idea. My daughter is already talking about not getting in. She is certain I will get in though. It will be really, REALLY hard in this house if that happens!:angryfire
I just have a feeling that it will all turn out to be my fault. Of course she will be right - I told her not to study...right?!?
BTW, I am sure I am crazy...I have already started my birthday list and Christmas list of things that I may need for school!
Let me know how you did.
It's always mom's fault, don't you know??
Well, at least you had the tables. I should complain about that because don't they realize taking that particular test on a dinky desk isn't that great of an idea???
Well, I hope your daugther did better than she thinks. Don't let it be your fault...if she wasn't fully prepared for it, how could it be your fault. But really, going in there for the first time, you don't really know what to expect and it can be overwhelming. If not this time, now she knows she needs to study more and she'll know a little more about what she needs to know!
I will certainly let you know when I get my scores!
ETA: did they make you stay til the end? Til everyone finished? Just wondering if they actually "changed the rules" like the lady said or if she was just being anal.
