Published

i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!

name: karen

school: brandon university, canada

program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing

what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.

biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!

what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!

my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!

i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll

what area of interest at this time: nicu is #1; or is #2

biggest fear: that i'll screw up! :uhoh21:

what you'd like us to know about you: i have wanted to be a nurse for quite awhile now. i went to college after hs and got a degree, but by the time i realized what i really wanted to do, i was halfway through another major and pushed off my dream. then life got in the way and now here i am... i feel like i'm at the point where it's now or never. i'm still waiting to find out if i'm in for fall 2007, but i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

We do two quarters (spring, summer...yep, summer is REQUIRED) then start clinicals in Sept...that's when all our fun paperwork is due...I'm sure that will be quote a process getting that stuff together!

Yes, I know that feeling as well! I am keeping my fingers crossed for you too!!

How is everyone doing this week? It's been a while!! I am busy at school and clinicals. It has seemed like this term is dragging but I guess there are only 24 more class days left!

My semester is flying by. I'm getting ready for our second set of tests and we just started clinicals again. At least they are fairly good about not scheduling everything in the same week.

Congrats on the engagement, too. Thats going to be a long engagement but you'll do great!;)

Thanks. The reason for the long engagement is so that we can both finish our degrees before we get married. He'll be done before me, but I want to graduate before I get married!

what area of interest at this time: working in a burn unit or maybe ob

biggest fear: failing the nclex

what you'd like us to know about you: i am 27 years old, married and have two kids. i was recently accepted into the fall nursing program for 07'. i have been working on pre-req's part time and still have quite a few to finish while i am doing the nursing program, so i think my life is starting to get a little crazy~but i never have been that sane anyway lol!!!

name: julie

school: san francisco state university

program: bsn

what area of interest at this time: trauma/ed, neuro, critical care, flight nursing and forensics! not looking forward to psych at all (and my 1st ba is in psych). who knows...this might all change.

biggest fear: nursing school itself. it's gonna be really hard, but i am hoping i can stay afloat, learn as much as i can, find good friends, and become a great nurse. my other fear: i am a very sensitive person, so i am just scared that i might cry easily (esp. seeing sick children and geriatrics) and be eaten alive my classmates/instructors because of it. i grew up with a brother who was a near-drowning victim and became permanently physically and mentally handicapped, so i am extremely sensitive in general. it's very hard for people to understand that (even my friends and family).

what you'd like us to know about you: doing my 2nd degree. have worked in health care in different capacities for 7 years. have worked in many fields and find each one interesting. i just want to be an excellent nurse and hopefully become an even better professor!!!

good luck to everyone. i hope we can get through this together!!!:icon_hug:
