i noticed the thread in the prenursing forum about class of '08 and i did post there but thought maybe i would start a thread specifically for '09 and see who is out there!! (plus it would suck when everyone graduated and left me alone in the post haha) i'm using the same format as that post because it was so good. post your info. here and introduce (or re-introduce) yourself!! it would be great to be able to support one another right to the end!!
name: karen
school: brandon university, canada
program: 4 yr. bachelor of nursing
what area of interest at this time: i am just really open to anything at this point .. so much to learn and i feel that this is just opening up to me and i will figure out where my interest lies.
biggest fear: not sure of that either. i am not sure if i will gag over anything or not. maybe my biggest fear would be looking stupid, but heaven knows i've done enough of that!
what you'd like us to know about you: i'm a mom of 4 (2 boys, 2 girls) and have worked (and still do) as a christian camp director for the past 5 years. i'm really enjoying university again. i graduated back in '85 with a b.ed. the next year i took a stats course and didn't go back until 2005 fall .. so on paper it took me 26 years to complete my pre-reqs haha .. in reality i (mostly) did them all since last fall!
my really neat thing this year is that my oldest daughter is going to be going to university at the same time as me but taking music! that is a very unique opportunity!!
i'm looking forward to talking with you all and helping to encourage you any way i can! :roll
Heya, Lor!! I'm sorry I haven't been checking in here recently -- It's been crazy, as I'm sure you can imagine as you're going through the same thing! LOL you sound like me re the reading! I have good intentions too but I think we do NEED some time off too. Yesterday was my last exam in the a.m. and I was SO HAPPY, even going into it, which is a little weird. lol I'm glad you had a great semester! Keep on plugging away! Maybe we can find a bit more time to chat during the holidays. Great to see ya!Congrats, dorselm! :balloons:I'm SOOO happy the semester is almost over. I have an assessment practicum exam tomorrow (basically doing a physical assessment on a partner from memory--ugh!) and one more night of clinicals, then finals week. Yippee!! I can't wait for vacation to recharge, maybe clean the house, maybe see a movie. . . I know next semester is gonna be a toughie, so maybe I'll get started on some reading. (Keeping in mind that I always have great intentions and rarely follow through!)
Loving nursing school, even though it's a lot of work, especially now that we're actually working with patients. I'm looking forward to med-surg next semester, even though it means being at the hospital at 6:30 a.m.--and I'm a total night owl, rarely in bed before 1. ARGH!!
How's everyone else doing?
hey, tiffany! welcome to "our class"!! how old are your kids and how many do you have? i'll bet you are so excited to be starting in a few short weeks!!!!!name: tiffanyschool: kishwaukee college
program: associate degree nursing
biggest interest at this time: icu or er
biggest fear: being able to handle nursing school and kids at the same time(been doing ok so far!)
what i'd like you guys to know about me: i start nursing on jan. 16th!!:redpinkhe
happy holidays :snowman1:
I'm done with the 1st semester. My body still hasn't realized that I've finished the 1st semester and am on break. I still have moments of anxiety. It doesn't help that some of my classmates are talking about reading for next semester already. :trout: Mostly I'm trying to catch up with sleep.
It's great that we've added several new people to our group. Congratulations on getting in and good luck in your studies.
Hope everyone has a great holiday break.

Enjoy your break!!! You deserve some rest!!!! I am still trying to catch up on goof-off time myself! I'm not ready for Christmas either. Hey one of my best friends is moving to Hawaii in the spring/summer .. that's where you are, right?
Hi, guys! I start Monday, and I totally DON'T feel prepared! I had so many great things I was going to accomplish over the break--doing some prereading, etc.--and I've done NONE of it. Hopefully I'll get more enthused after we actually start! Monday and Tuesday we have skills lab (which we have for three weeks before med surg), then Wed. starts med surg lecture, pathophys and pharm. I just keep thinking that after this semester, I'm halfway done!!
:balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons::balloons:Congrats LiveZen, I got my acceptance right after Thanksgiving, it was so sweet! Then it was a month of deadlines and forms, and now I have finished my first week of class. Clinicals start on 2/15, can't wait...Good luck and don't stress the small stuff. I kept getting denied my release to do clinical becuse the computer in Health Services wants me to get my last Hep B shot in MAY 2007, well try explaining to a computer that I can't do that until May. Everything got straightened out, the instructors were helpful, they want to see us succeed.
