Any Applicants to Frontier Nursing University FNP Class 124?

Published

Hi! I've read and re-read all of the threads here regarding previous applicants to FNU, and now it's my turn to wait! I am a fairly recent BSN grad with about 6 months of peds experience under my belt, and applied to the FNU March 3rd FB cohort. I have a ton of community experience, and co-created a mental health arts intervention program in my city, so I'm hoping my extracurricular experience is enough to bypass the 1 year of required experience. Anyone else anxiously awaiting news?!? Let's chat, because otherwise I'll be tempted to stalk my email another 100 times today, lol. :)

Specializes in Family practice, emergency.

Applied to 125, so I'll be anxiously awaiting your response! Good luck to you!

I was so close to applying to 125, but at the last minute I decided on 124 since it was still open and I wanted to get in sooner rather than later. Best of luck to you as well, and I'll certainly keep you posted!

I applied to 124. I think we should hear this week since next Monday would be 6 weeks to Frontier bound.

I am going to apply to either 125 or 127. I am very curious to hear your responses about admission, because I graduated with my BSN on 6/1/13, started my job as an ICU RN Aug 2013. And i was trained as a doula in February 2013. I am fearful that I don't have the experience they're looking for, but I've never wanted to be a staff RN, I've wanted to be a midwife as long as I can remember. I wish you all the very best with admissions!

I know, exciting and nerve-racking at the same time. Good luck and keep us posted!

I'll definitely let you know, since it sounds like we have roughly the same amount of experience. You'll have to let me know as well! I visited this school in my junior year of nursing school and fell in love, and can't see myself going anwhere else. I think I will be crushed if I don't get accepted. I feel like experience is super important, but then I look at MD residents and students and think, they go straight from their undergrand right into medical school. Why can't it be the same for nurses? I'm 36 years old not getting any younger. I'm ready to get this party started, lol!

Doulanurseclaire, It sounds like you have a passion and a strong desire for becoming a CNM and caring for your patients. Express that in your essays and you should be fine. If anything acknowledge that your limited experience will make you work harder to achieve your goals. This is what the selection committees seem to be looking for. Also, you will have the minimum (1yr) by the time your classes start or very close, and you have your doula experience which they also consider in the CNM track. I would say write the best essays you can and submit that application!

Hey guys! I also applied to CNM class 124 and spoke to admissions today we will all know end of this Thursday evening! Super excited!

Yay, thanks for sharing! I wonder when the FNP folks will be notified. It's exciting and terrifying all at the same time! Wishing everyone the best of luck!
