Hello everyone,
I haven't posted much but I'm currently in the process of applying for the new graduate nursing boards for the Air Force. I graduate with my bachelors of nursing in May!! I thought it would be nice to connect and see if anyone else is applying for the new graduate board selection. My recruiter told me they meet and make decisions in July. If I get it, I'll be heading to COT in October!
Currently, the recruiter has me picking out bases that I would like to be selected at for NTP. I'm also awaiting a medical exam date. If anyone has any input on great places to start out my nursing career, let me know!
Thanks!
I'm a little late to posting since I'm in England, don't have service constantly, but I WAS SELECTED!!! After waiting to apply again from last year, I am SOO happy and thankful right now!! I can hardly believe results came out so fast, and I made it! It seems like most of us on here have made it, which is awesome!!! I'll keep you guys posted once I have my orders/COT date!! Hoping for October
Awesome! I know how much you wanted this, glad you had the fortitude to apply again.
CPRose, the GPA is your cumulative GPA and must be a 3.5 currently. However, that has changed before. Last year it was a 3.4 minimum, before that I think a 3.2. But this year was the first requiring a 3.5 so it's getting more and more difficult. Definitely takes a lot of hard work, but completely worth it!! Also, anyone that's reading these posts and thinking of applying next year, I'll be happy to give some pointers and advice once I'm back in the states!!
So I'm alternate #4, I'm a little sad. Recruiter told me the slots dropped this year and if they hadn't I would have been a select directly. Still a good chance I'll e picked up if more slots open or some selects either back out or don't get through MEPS. Staying positive. If anything I'll just reapply
Stay positive and don't give up, even if you don't make it this year. I had to apply twice to get in, but that denial last year is what made me kick butt and improve so much this year!! Does anyone know specific info like how many people applied this year, how many were selected, etc? I was guessing there would be 150-200 applicants but I don't know realy numbers. I also thought the number selected would be the same, 35 med-surg 5 OB like before
I was selected too!!! SOOOO excited! I hope I will start COT in October as well, but I was told it could be as late as January. I have a meeting with my recruiter next week to go over all the paper work and to schedule my physical. From what I understand, the physical fitness test takes place at COT. I'm excited to see where my assignment will take place... where did you all bid for? After reading these posts, I'm kind of regretting putting AK as one of my top choices.
Anyone on here get selected from Colorado??? Regis University?

Congrats for all of those that were selected. I hopefully start the nursing program in January and have been looking at all of my career options. I live and go to school in the SF Bay Area and have been reading that new grad programs are virtually nonexistent in my area. I've been looking at alternatives to civilian hospitals, such as the VA and the Air Force. I am curious about the GPA requirement. Is the GPA based on your total school history? Or just your GPA from the nursing program? Just wondering if I need to maintain what I have or if I am starting from scratch.
Info about me: Current GPA 3.7, 5 years enlisted in the USMC(left the service in 2013)
