Hello everyone,
I haven't posted much but I'm currently in the process of applying for the new graduate nursing boards for the Air Force. I graduate with my bachelors of nursing in May!! I thought it would be nice to connect and see if anyone else is applying for the new graduate board selection. My recruiter told me they meet and make decisions in July. If I get it, I'll be heading to COT in October!
Currently, the recruiter has me picking out bases that I would like to be selected at for NTP. I'm also awaiting a medical exam date. If anyone has any input on great places to start out my nursing career, let me know!
Thanks!
There are definitely less applicants, for a couple reasons. Last year the minimum GPA requirement was 3.4, this year it is 3.5 which isn't a big jump but it still cut quite a few applicants. Second reason, any December 2015 grads are not allowed to apply, only nurses who have already graduated like from last December or this May/summer. That cut a lot too. I graduated in December 2014, and this rule is new so I was allowed to apply last year but this year people in that situation have to wait till next year. Last year my recruiter had 12 applicants. This year he had 6, that's a huge difference. If it's similar across the country, that's half the applicants, so we went from over 300 applicants last year to maybe 150 this year? This is all speculation, I have no proof or real hard numbers, I'm just logically guessing. Of course we're also against tougher competition, with that higher GPA and a push to be the cream of the crop. Good luck to all!!!!
Just received a call from my recruiter. He said he just received an email that stated the select , non-select and alternate lists will be out sometime TODAY!!!!!!! Bases have not yet been determined but at this point who cares I just want to know if I'm in or not. I will be a nervous, anxious wreck all day until I get that call. Again good luck to all will let you know the second I hear

What? The selection board is meeting this week?
My recruiter never told me the specific day. He just told me that they will conven in "Mid-July."
Oh well good luck to us applicants for the nurse transition program.
I did hear some "good news" from my AF health recruiter, earlier this week.
He told me that there were less applicants who applied this year, than in previous years, so that gives us a better chance of getting admitted to the 2016 AF RN residency program!
Cheers!
