Taking my 1st ADN-BSN class. Thinking of dropping it with only 1 week left.
1st class and already a 6 to 8 page paper. A concept analysis of 1 of the following 4 words: Caring, Hope, Trust, or Fear.
This is absolutely ridiculous. I have absolutely no idea what to say.
The structure of these programs MUST change.
I don't want to write papers every 5 weeks. I want to read a book and take a test.
I only had to write one paper in my ADN to BSN program. This was a "trans-cultural" nursing class; I had to write about the Eskimo population, which was OK, except I lived in Florida! We don't get too many Eskimo here. I made an A+ on it, though. I had the fortune of pairing with a classmate who went to nursing school in Alaska.
There is no BA in nursing in the US
Sure there are. Some of the private catholic universities in the upper midwest grant the BAN, not the BSN. Here is one such school.

Learn something new every day. In my area AS, AAS, BSN, MSN, PhD, DNP or EdD only for nursing majors.

Good deal for you! May I ask what program that was?
I am reading this with great interest because as I am at the end of my semester, I have lots of papers due in the next week. And I am doing an ADN program. Papers are a part of college. They are not my most favorite thing in the world to do, but it does get me sitting down and thinking. You have to organize your thoughts and plan out your paper, you do some research, and review everything before turning it in. I think writing papers do have a lot to do with nursing because you write out care plans, you need to be organized, and you need to think. All of these qualities go into writing a paper. They are just time consuming which is something I don't think people like.
I just spoke to a rep at Achieve Test Prep. It is an online school that uses credit by examination. There is no group or homework assignments at all. I am looking for insight if anyone has attended this program.
Achieve test prep is NOT a school but basically a study group to prepare for Excelsior College challenge exams. There is no homework as they are not a school nor do they grant degrees. You can save a lot of money if you are independent and motivated to go directly through EC.

No, there wasn't really anything about nursing involved. It was a cultural diversity class and most of the other students were not even nurses.
