Antelope valley fall 2015!

Published

Hello all! I been following this forum for awhile and I have always found a lot of good information on here... I thought I would start a forum to reach out to anyone who may be applying to AVC for fall of 2015. I know we may be finding out in May. How does everyone feel about this? I know that stats requirement may of helped people that already had the the class done a small advantage. IF I get in, I'm concerned about whether or not I should work or not. I'm full time at a mortgage company which I know I would definitely have to leave... Does anyone know how to get on with a medical based job without any CNA, or medical assist license? Or if chanes of getting a job in that field are even likely with no licensing.

I was accepted I hope you were to and I am pretty sure you will need to quit your full time job or at least work part time.

I just quit my full time job too.

Hi! Congrats! I am planning on applying to the LVN to RN? How long did you wait? WAs it for the generic or LVN to RN?

Ok so I am applying for spring 2016. I did not get into COC, but for AVC , I have 40 points and passes the TEAS with a 71%. I am also a CNA. I'm so afraid that I'll never get in. :/

I know that feeling, just gotta keep the faith & be patient. You have a good amount of points, so you cod very well start in spring :)

Thank you! I certainly hope so. I'm so nervous. Haha

You can email them & they should be able to tell you where you are on the "wait list" right now. I know after September 1st they won't be able to tho cuz they start the decisions but it'll give you an indicator of where you fall & you could move up due to the point system.

I literally just put in my application so doubtful that I'll get in for spring :( but, I'm hoping I'll at least get in at some point. COC was such a downer for me. I cried. I almost gave up completely but then I decided it's worth another shot. I love being a CNA, I know I'll love nursing even more.

I think COC has their standards set really high & I've heard they base most of the decision on TEAS scores. Don't give up tho! The world needs nurses that actually love what they do not just love the money!

They base almost everything off your TEAS score. It sucks for people like me that aren't great test takers. I studied my butt off, but the pressure of actually taking the test just knocked me off my game. I got nervous, and rushed the end of math because I ran out of time. Id timed myself before the test too!! It totally stunk. I'm hoping AVC judges differently.

Thank you! I know that I will be so successful given the chance to start nursing courses!!! There's nothing I want more.

I'm in the same boat. Before the test I did great on time but when I finally took the teas I ran out of time on the math. I got 80 or above in all the other areas but my math was 62% so it brought my overall score down a lot.. I think AVC goes by points for the first half & waitlist for the second half.

You're probably 100% fine. I'm sure you'll start soon! my 71% is a bad score :( ugh. I had a friend that had to retake the TEAS, and she is going to pierce for nursing now, so maybe all isn't lost for me. I passed the first time.

True! Passing on the first try is definitely a plus!!

Are re you taking any other classes right now?

Nope I'm done. The only thing I need is philosophy 110 for graduation. I'm wait listed for that this fall so I don't know if I'll get in. I got B's in A&P but a C in micro which totally stinks because I took it years ago when I was still a teenager and had no idea what I was doing. Same with English 101. I'm so mad. I screwed myself over.
