Antelope valley fall 2015!

Published

Hello all! I been following this forum for awhile and I have always found a lot of good information on here... I thought I would start a forum to reach out to anyone who may be applying to AVC for fall of 2015. I know we may be finding out in May. How does everyone feel about this? I know that stats requirement may of helped people that already had the the class done a small advantage. IF I get in, I'm concerned about whether or not I should work or not. I'm full time at a mortgage company which I know I would definitely have to leave... Does anyone know how to get on with a medical based job without any CNA, or medical assist license? Or if chanes of getting a job in that field are even likely with no licensing.

Yes you may get in pretty soon then!

I just emailed her so I'll let you know when she gets back to me. Lol I feel like I'm always bugging her when I go talk to her in person, she just has that attitude like "what is it now?!" :p

Lol there's nothing wrong with that! She sees that you really want this haha

I'm a little scared with the point system though. I feel like I can't get as many points as others :(

Hey everyone! its been a while! anyone have any updates?? I just asked the lady in the desk again and my number hasn't changed. But like someone mentioned earlier, they will evaluate new applications by September for next sem. I'm really hoping to only wait a year but who knows.. I'll definitely update you all if i hear anything new!

On a side note i talked to a friend its her second sem as a nursing student and she had a test/quiz on the first day of class!!! You must pass with a 9/10 or you will need to be remediated by a professor. No pressure...

I haven't heard anything new other than there's a "dosage calculation" test in week 10 of the program and you have to pass it with a 90 or above. I highly recommend dosage calculation, its LAC 099 I think. I'm currently taking it right now and its only 4 weeks long. & if you'd like to retake your TEAS & pay for it they will accept the higher score, because I'm retaking my TEAS sometime after November if I don't get in the Spring class.

Oh wow i didn't even know such a class existed!!! Well if i don't get anything next semm ill consider taking that class. I really have nothing else left to do. I've finished literally ALL my prereqs and filler classes to graduate with my AS as well as some bachelor classes for nursing. All that is left is to get into nursing! The only thing left is time.

As for the TEAS im pretty happy with my score for now. Don't they only accept one retake?.. And how much is the retake just in case i change my mind? Thanks in advance!

Yeah they'll only accept the higher score once, but the ati website lets you see where your weak spots are so I thought that was pretty nice & helpful for getting a higher score.. It cost $90-$96 & they're held at Cal State LA.

Oh my thats quite a drive! But that's not bad either. Honestly though since were in the 80s-90s# on the first come first serve list we should be able to get in maybe... 2-3 sems guaranteed THAT'S only based on THAT list not the points system list (at least thats what im hoping for). They said there isn't a list for the points system on the front desk and no one knows the actual list other than the head of the department. You could have a really low number or a high number. I don't think there's a reason to freak out. We will all get in soon! Be glad you made it to the waiting list at all because a lot of people couldn't even make it past the prereqs! I would enjoy life now, get a job, save some money, LIVE your life. Cause once you/we get in, most people leave their jobs and have almost no social life. I think many of us get so caught up in trying to get in that we forget how much we have to give up going in. Thats just my advice, you don't have to take it though.

I totally get where you're coming from, I just didn't get a great score on my TEAS & I've actually been moved back 2 spots so I was just thinking of retaking the test just so I could stay where I am now or move up cuz I didn't do as great as I wanted & other ppl could do better on the test & take spots in front of us, since they're taking more ppl from the point system.

I seriously hope I'm not waiting forever and ever. :( oh man!!!! I didn't know we could retake the teas!!!!!!!!! I'm probably low on the list because I turned my packet in pretty late. I'm a CNA so I only have one or two days off a week do I have to squeeze everything into those days. How long until we get letters?

I'm sure you're fine!!!!!!
