This was my strategy: Figure out the main subject that the question is asking. For example, is this an intervention or assessment question? The options will match the question.

There are a few good books out there to help you with exactly that ... Deciding which of there 3 answers you have left is actually the correct 1. It shows you KEY WORDS to watch out for when reading the responses etc, it was packed full if helpful tips etc and well worth the $$
'NCLEX-RN' by Kaplan nursing strategies for passing the registered national exams, comes with a CD as well

In my program, our instructors always said to think of a SATA like a true/false question. If its asking what the best answer (teaching was effective, understands the procedure, etc) select each option that is true. If its asking what is incorrect (needs more teaching, requires intervention, etc) select the false option. That usually worked pretty well. Assuming I had a good grasp of the subject in the question anyway :).

I'm also getting ready to take the NCLEX, and the review class I just took also said to treat each answer like a true/false question and pick the ones that fit the question. And one of my instructors said that it's never just 1 answer and it's never all the answers. Good luck!

Google NCLEX 3500. There is a link to a community college NCLEX 3500. There are hundreds of SATA questions. I feel they really helped me prepare.

ive noticed something that is only *now* obvious.
when looking at SATA , there is often two groupings.
for example, if it says someone is immunocomprimised, i am looking to group answers that have to do with protective/neutropenic precautions, hand hygiene, reporting a temp of 100.4 and above, etc
or if u are looking at a shingles pt and it says who can care for this person? think chicken pox hx or vacciene. pick those two as opposed to other infectious diseases
