I was second on scene to a horrific crash this week killed one of my students.
I could do nothing for her.
My heart hurts and all I can see is Fire and EMS working on her.
Since I started at this job, I have lost 16 kids, some current students, some in lower grades and some post grads
MVA's, suicide, fire, cancer, other organic diseases...
Please keep this family in your thoughts.
Thank you all for the kind support. I was able to attend a Critical Incident Stress Debriefing with our local responders and it was very helpful. Still have to get thru the calling hours and funeral.
Our school has been down this road before so I know better days are ahead.
This one really hurts.
I am so sorry that you, the student's family, your community and the first responders had to endure such a tragic loss. Please take the advice of the CISM team. Talk about things. If you notice changes in your sleeping, eating, drinking, etc. don't be afraid to seek someone out to talk to. Even if it's just venting to someone here. You and your community will be in my thoughts.
