I truly admire your enthusiasm. I try to avoid open houses at all costs but I believe if you greet the parents all decked out in your Sunday dress nurse suit and stethosocope around your neck you'll get a lot of attention; if your table is set there with you, you can serve up what information you want to.
I don't attend myself, but I do use it as an opportunity to get paperwork I am missing. I leave a large stack of blank health forms at the table with the rest of the forms and a sign that says "Forget to send updated health info in with your child this year? Grab a form to fill out and turn in!"
What about a flyer explaining what school health services are about, your role as the school nurse, when the child should stay home from school? I agree with having common forms available. I would have loved to be at my school's open house, but I came on board late as a new school nurse and didn't get my assignment in time. Good luck!

We have an open house every year. The students bring their parents to look around the school and see their classrooms. I am school nurse for grades 3-6. I attend and man the hallway (or let say a greeter), but think that this would be a great opportunity to reach out to the parents with some sort of information (something that would draw them to a table possibly). Do any of you do anything for open house or similar events? Any suggestions?
