Yes, I studied for the cert just like I did the NCLEX... I used the Lippincott review, several med/surg sections of other review books and the NCLEX 3500 on the med/surg topics. I thought it was really hard, and I knew I had failed, but I passed. A lot of my peers who took it said the same though and also passed. Good luck! Let me know if you have any other questions.
I didn't use any books to study. I used this website anccprep.com. You can take a free assessment test to see how well you will do on the test and what you need to work on. You can also purchase questions which I did they helped alot. i recommend this site to anyone taking the ANCC exam. Many of my co-workers took the exam after I recommended this site and they said it was very helpful. As far as the test I've been a med-surg nurse my 14 yrs of nursing and there were a few questions on things I have never done before those were surgical questions. Overall the test wasn't to bad but it was long.
Thanks for everyone's advice! I heard there's a lot of theories and ethical content on this exam and also that their questions can be complex with at least 2 answers that can be correct. My exam is in two days! Can't wait to be done with it. I feel like I've hit a wall with studying. I took the two ANCC practice tests I purchased online and scored 83% and 75% which is, according to their scoring, passing scores. I hope this means I will pass the real thing! ?

Let us know how the exam goes! I have been on/off studying for a few months in preparation for mine and I'd like to hear from someone who has experienced the madness!
your experience in the hospital will make you pass the test. its very patient-centered and a lot of prioritization questions. I used cmsrn pocket prep when im working, lippincotts med surg nursing certification and mometrix med surg nurse exam secrets study guide. I literally crammed for the exam! I read lippincott haphhazardly studying topics I am not confident about and mometrix the day before. take all the practice tests coz the explanations (for the answers) gave me more study content. I passed. Good luck!!! ?

Hi All,
I'm scheduled to take this exam at the end of this month and have been utilizing Lippincott's Review for Medical-Surgical Nursing Certification (5th ed) as well as purchased test questions through the ANCC website and Amazon (Mometrix's Medical surgical nurse exam practice questions). I am still looking for more practice questions. For those of you who passed this exam, do you feel that practicing NCLEX questions also helped prepare you for this exam? I'm thinking of using NCLEX questions to test my knowledge of each subject's content. I appreciative anyone's feedback!
