ANC Nov Board & M5 ID

Published

I wanted to start a thread for all of the people who are waiting for the November ANC selection board, specifically if you have/waiting on the M5 identifier for Emergency Nursing. I thought we could suffer together and update each other while we wait. You are welcome to post if you have another specialty or none at all.

My status:

I have submitted all documents, and waiting on M5 identifier approval, physical approval and for the packet to make it past QA.

I hope there will be lots of good news today;)

The Board was unable to make their decision based on my GPA for the RN to BSN program because final grades are not posted until December. There were a ton of applicants, so I am sure they had to keep the rules very stringent with who they would select. I had a huge lump in my throat for about an hour and tears welling up in my eyes, but that all went away when I put my entire focus on my patients. When I found out that I was not selected, I was at work in the ER and some of my team mates were working on a full arrest that ended up not making it. I saw so many situations that were worse off than mine. I then began to than God for the life that he has given me, and knew in my heart that He knows what is best for me. It's like I told God what my plan was, and he laughed at me. (I know I have heard that said somewhere else before.)

I am on track to graduate in December 2012. I currently have a 3.9 GPA, so I will continue to work hard and reapply next year. I want to be an Army nurse, so I will continue to try...but how many times, I don't know. I guess until I get too old.:lol2:

I haven't heard a thing either! I haven't even tried bugging my recruiter once because I know there's no point until he knows the info I need. I'm in PA visiting some family & am flying back to NM tomorrow....then back to work on Thursday...ack. It is what it is, ha.

Don't give up Stardogdaisy! Maybe next year or the next! It sounds like your GPA is going to be really great & an asset to your future path, whether it be Army or something else. People ask me what my "plan B" is sometimes & I tell them I don't have one. There are "interests" here & there, but I've stopped planning almost all together because every time I "plan"...it seems God redirects me anyway. & I always find it was a GOOD way anyway! :yeah:

While we may not need to plan, we CAN just keep chugging along & doing what we CAN do & try doing our best while we're at it.

SFC Jimenez, All of us are dying to know WHEN will the board results be released???? (specifically from the Nov 16-19 board):uhoh3:

Most 1 time year boards where there are LOTS of packets can take up to 2-3 weeks to get back the results. As of today I have not see or received any results from the Board. There are a handful of RN packets from my station that were sent up and my fellow Recruiters are also waiting anxiously : )

Thank you! You answer my question..

Your welcome, I wish you all the best of luck in your selection process but with only 50 available slots its going to be tough. I wish there were more positions : ( You can either wait for the next board, next year, or even possibly try submitting a packet for the Reserves (you will need 6 months exp. and have to be working as an RN). I know some Recruiters might not like me for saying that lol but I always look out for the interest of the individual and not us. FYI, I have a RN that I know that vol. for a position after the war started at FT Bliss and she was still there as of 2008 (last time I spoke to her). She was an activated Reservist who just kept volunteering for an extension and as long as the Army needs that position filled then they have no problems leaving someone in that position instead of having to interrupt someone elses life. Its a win win for both sides.

Whether you decide to try again next year or attempt to join the Reserves I wish you all good luck.

Im here with you guys waiting to see if my plan A or B will go into effect this upcoming year! They had trouble getting my packet off and didnt even get it to board till 10AM on that Friday! And I still need the General to sign off on my Release from Reserves (368) if I was selected for Active. Anyhow, GL to everyone

Jerry,

Are you an ICU RN? If so, how long? Are you an RN for the Reserves?
