hehe this is going to be an interesting summer
any sites will be greatly appreciated lol :chair:
Thank you, I know a B is fantastic and I am proud of it, it is just that I was so close to an A and I blew it on my last exam. I had so much going on that week and you know how the 5 week science courses have to have all of your time. I did not get to study the way I wanted, I did not get any sleep and I was frustrated. I got a C and thats what did it. But like you said a B is a fantastic grade and i am proud. thanks so muchAndy
Getting a grade of a B in A&P, let alone accelerated A&P is something to be proud of. So start being proud of it LOL! :w00t:
congratulations on finishing with such a fabulous grade! i could tell from your posts that you were working very hard...i bet you're relieved.
Thank you!
Last night I was a bit keyed up, knowing that I would have 2 exams today, then be done. I dreamed that Angelina Jolie had a car accident. It's like I was watching the accident from a sky view. In my dream, after she died (!) I was hanging around in the clouds and said to myself in the dream, "her parasympathetic system and semicirular canals failed her." I told myself in my dream - you know it's like the brakes on your car. Then I woke up.
Hello,I am taking Anatomy this coming fall. Any suggestions on what the best way to approach this class is, seeing how everyone here has probably completed it ? Any ideas/ thoughts/ warnings would be appreciated ! ! ! !
Well, I'd say, as you read your Text, when you come across a vocabulary term, instantly make a flashcard of it with the definition on one side and term on the other. Then, after finishing the chapter, run the flash cards until you have them memorized from front to back.
Once you have the terms out of the way, you can focus on function. I found that if I tried to study both a term concurrently with the processes of the body, I don't absorb as much. With the vocab out of the way, you can focus on the how/where/why stuff.
Use online resourses, mock quizzes. Often the text has a web-based tutorial and exercises.

your studying system is similar to mine, and i have an A in the class so far (even though we have a gigantic test next week, and i am very overwhelmed, so that A might disappear) so this is probably good advice. i go through my lecture notes and text simultaneously while i'm doing this so i can get the most complete possible understanding of the material.
personally, after i learn all the terms, i go back and also make flash cards for all the concepts and processes as well. i just write "process of intramembranous ossification" or whatever on one side and then write all the steps (in very small writing, haha) on the back.
then i go through my flash cards until i'm comfortable with them, and also regularly after that to keep the material fresh in my mind.
so am i the only person who did a 10 week a&p 1 this summer and is taking a&p 2 in the fall?

Chris2008,
Good luck this fall. You should do fine, I've managed to maintain a high A in the class using the following system, which has worked for me in any class I've taken.
When I read the chapter I make notes, terminology reference, and study guide all at the same time. That way I only need to read the chapter once, but I'm forced to actually understand the material before moving on to the next section, and it ensures that I only go a page or three before applying what I've just learned so I don't daydream and have to re-read a whole section again.
So, here's the system. Organize your notes the way the chapter is organized using capitalization and/or bolding of sections and sub-sections. Italics for important information (I don't use color since my printer is B&W and I put all my notes in OneNote digitally rather than writing them). Now when you enter a section/sub-section I break down the info into Summary (which is the "content", in your own words, of what the section is telling you); Terms with each word that you don't know and the definition of the word tabbed over next to it. Keep your tabs lined up and it makes it simpler to cover over all the definitions and practice "flashcarding" without spending the time/money to make up thousands of flash cards. Finally under the terms section is your Questions/Review section. In the questions section you can put both text provided review questions and predict questions as well as develop your own questions. By doing this before moving onto the next section in the chapter you not only have created your vocabulary practice sections, good notes translated into your own words which helps to cement them in your mind, and a section by section study guide that you can use weekly/monthly/quarterly for review of the subject matter even after you've finished the course.
The main reason I really like keeping my notes digitally is the ease with which I can reference all the info. and detailed information I have from previous courses without trying to search through 30 notebooks of handwritten notes, and you can insert digital images, hyperlinks to websites, sound files etc. to increase the value of your notes.
Whatever you do however, find a system that minimizes the number of times you have to "touch" a resource and maximizes the amount of information you retain, while working to whatever way you are most effective at learning.
Best of luck.
