Lunch time, I come in to check tray on cute little old lady around 90. She is channel surfing with a frown on her face. Finally she hands me TV controller and says, "I can't seem to find Bill Burns dear, will you see if you can locate him". :chuckle :roll

He has been dead awhile...an icon in Pgh news. (Kinda a goofball, if you ask me)
If she channel surfed till she found him that would either be a very old rerun or a Stephen King novel.

LOL! I remember Bill Burns! And Paul Long. Used to run into both of them occasionally downtown (dahntahn).
Thanks for the memory-jog.

what age group? I think I remember the names Bill Burns but I don't know why. I moved out of Pittsburgh when I was 11.
Bill Burns was a TV anchor person in the Burgh from around 1950 until 1985. He retired and died shortly in late 80s. His daughter was also a TV anchor on same station. In 1980 they were featured on a network news story. It seems a father and daughter news anchor team was a very novel thing. I can remember them co anchoring the noon news many times. Alas, his daughter Patti Burns passed away recently. She was just a year or two older than me. They were both legends around here.
Ok...I remember Patti Burns!

I remember watching bill burns and patty burns. I knew patty burns was sick a few years back, didn't know she passed away. I met her once at childrens hospital when my nephew was very ill, such a nice and very intelligent woman.
I don't think I knew that Patty Burns died. That is so sad. I do remember hearing that she was ill but I was not aware of her death.
