Hello everyone! Thought I'd start a thread for everyone who is also applying to American River College for Fall 2016. We can help each other stay updated with any news, I know it definitely helps me through this long waiting period! We can also share knowledge if anyone has any questions about the application process! Good luck to all :)
Hey guys! Those of you who applied to Sac City as well, did anyone get that notice they no longer accept sociology 300 and require different courses now instead??? Do you guys know when that change happened? Cause I did the SOC300 just for SCC nursing application and now they wouldn't even accept it anymore and my application is pretty much canceled?? This doesn't make any sense to me! So frustrated!
I wasn't able to figure out when SOC300 was changed either. The website offers very general info, and my mistake was thinking that the COMMUNICATIONS class that was required was the same as the pre-req for CSUSacramento's BSN program. It's a COMM331 or 321 that's required, not just the general COMM300.
I was soooo mad that I didn't see that in time. But, things happen for a reason right? Not all things we will be happy with, but best be prepared for unpredictable events in anything in life. Sorry to hear your misfortune! Best of luck getting selected elsewhere!

Just so that you all know, I did a little digging and it appears that SCC made the change effective last year, meaning Spring 2015 for the upcoming application period. You would have had to pay close attention to the course catalog OR the SCC Nursing info stuff because they did put the info there. If you look at the title of the new required course, you get a good idea what SCC wants as a "product" of their nursing education... nurses that are more culturally sensitive and knowledgeable.
