O I had orientation today, and needless to say it was overwhelming. Our dean stated that working at a hospital while in school had benefits and drawbacks. Drawbacks being that if we got fired or dismissed from the position we held, they probably wouldn't let us be students there for our clinicals, thus resulting in withdrawal from NS. Last year I was working at a clinic that belongs to one of our clinical agencies, and I had to quit very suddenly because of extreme personal problems, it also resulted in me withdrawing my classes that semester too. Needless to say my boss new I was struggling with personal issues, I did not put in my two weeks, and I'm scared I made a bad name for myself. I was not fired or anything but quit. Now I'm worried should I call human resources tomorrow and inquiry? I asked the dean of nursing and she said I should be fine since I quit, nit dismissed, and that if any further action was taken I would have been notified. What do you think? Now I'm over analyzing this statement and it's getting scary.
So got in touch with the correct women and apparently you have have been gone for at least 12 months, I've been gone for 7! But she's getting in touch with the heads honchos to try to go ahead and get my status lifted! Hoping everything works out!
Keeping fingers crossed for you! It'll work out one way or another! :)
Just got the call, they won't go against policy and do it. I'm so depressed. It took me two years to get into nursing school and something like this is gonna hold me back?! I couldnt help that I had to quit. The only hope for me is that since we go to clinical the last 5 weeks of school, and at a nursing home, is that it's not one owned by infirmary. They said they could grant my rehire status back to me in December, which would just be in time for my med surg clinicals in January of 2013. But Faulkner is set on it's ways tho, and idk if they will allow that. If this doesn't work out, I'm at a breaking point. I'm done.
I'd get a lawyer..........ASAP and have a little letter sent to the hospital something they are doing can't be legal
I don't have money for a lawyer:( I dont understand. Their going to stick to a policy, when they know they can change it, and cost me my education?! It's ridiculous. I'm almost out if money for student loans too...

The place(s) you mentioned above, is that the only place that you can do clinicals at?
