Am I worrying to much?

Nursing Students General Students

O I had orientation today, and needless to say it was overwhelming. Our dean stated that working at a hospital while in school had benefits and drawbacks. Drawbacks being that if we got fired or dismissed from the position we held, they probably wouldn't let us be students there for our clinicals, thus resulting in withdrawal from NS. Last year I was working at a clinic that belongs to one of our clinical agencies, and I had to quit very suddenly because of extreme personal problems, it also resulted in me withdrawing my classes that semester too. Needless to say my boss new I was struggling with personal issues, I did not put in my two weeks, and I'm scared I made a bad name for myself. I was not fired or anything but quit. Now I'm worried should I call human resources tomorrow and inquiry? I asked the dean of nursing and she said I should be fine since I quit, nit dismissed, and that if any further action was taken I would have been notified. What do you think? Now I'm over analyzing this statement and it's getting scary.

I agree with your dean. If you quit I don't think it would be an issue. Don't let it scare you. I would call and ask if you are really worried about it but I think you'll be ok.

Thanks! I just worry so much!:( what should I ask HR when I call? If I'm on the do not re hire list? Lol

I would just ask if quitting there before would affect your rehire ability. Most of the HRs I've spoken to at hospitals around where I live are nice and happy to answer any questions you have. :)

Orientation is so overwhelming! I remember mine and it was very intimidating!!!! But it wont be like that for long :-) good luck!

Hey don't worry too much about it, that only applies if you worked with a company where you will be doing clinicals at, which the first semester its at Gordon Oaks in Mobile, Oakwood, in Bay Minette, the nursing home in Robertsdale and and Foley, and of course Thomas hospital for the second semester and I don't know what other hospital. But as long as it's not an agency that they will send you for clinicals it's fine. But if you didn't harm anyone while you were there then it should be okay.

I called and I am not eligible for rehire! I worked at mobile infirmary diagnostic and medical clinic, Tiffany. I know we go to mobile infirmary itself for clinicals. So I'm worried? She gave me the number for a employee rep or something, so I called them and left a message. I'm so nervous! I worked as a fill clerk and did not harm anybody, just had to quit due to personal probs

Wow! I am shocked for you kayruhh! That does not make any sense! Hoping everything works out for you. Maybe when the rep calls you back, they can help out.

I know I'm freaking out! I'm finally accepted after 5 denials, and something like this is going to happen?!:( I justt got a voicemail from my don and if I can't get back my rehire eligibility I'm out of the nursing program:( I knew something like this was gonna happen! The guy from HR called back and refereed me to someone else and apparently it's an appeal process! So I called and left a voicemail for her, please send prayers up!:(

At my old job I worked in HR and if anyone quit without giving a two-weeks notice then I had to put them down as "not eligible for rehire" no matter what the circumstances were. If the applicant wanted to be rehired, they had to wait at least 6 months after they were terminated and then once rehired, they were placed on probation. Of course every place is different but once you express your concerns to the right person then hopefully you can get everything sorted out. Good luck!

This is a sad situation I know but don't let it stop you, even though they are strict on their policies I think you should explain to them why you left. I would think it's okay since you didn't harm anyone, even though you are on the do not hire list. Just see if they will deny you the right to do clinicals at their facilities, because if not then you will be fine! I'll be praying for you and please keep me in yours as well! I'm still struggling with a decision that I have to make as well. PM me or email me anytime!

Praying hard for you! So so sorry :(
