I study hard and feel confident, this last time it was so intense I actually ran out of time at 221 and failed. I have trouble with prioritizing, they sometimes look unstable. Any help, I am really down on the whole thing:o
Just heard from a neighbor this afternoon that a relative who has taken the test SIX times has just passed :) At least, I think she failed six times and passed on the seventh....or maybe the sixth. Don't know for sure.
Point is.....her test anxiety was so bad, it seemed that it would keep her out forever, BUT she did get it under control, did get through the questions (she said meds were her downfall, but who's to know?). She passed. You will, too :)
I did the elimination process, and went back to make sure. It is very intense for me, so intende that I took 3 breaks and was rolling along until I ran out of time and completely failed. I did the HURST review that I really thought was great, I have not even had the desire to begin preparing for it again. I have paid my monies to the BON and PearsonV, but I have not decided to begin again. I really felt better prepared with the review, but huh! Thanks to each of you for the encouragement.
No, you are not a dummy. Although I don't know you, I don't believe that. I think anyone who finishes nursing school is not a dummy. I graduated from nursing school this May and we had to pass a HESI exam to graduate (we only had 3 chances to pass it). I passed it on the LAST chance and I studied hard for each one of them. I took the NCLEX Thursday and I had 265 Q's and I am not feeling good about it. I actually think I failed it. All I can do now is pray. I will pray for you as well. Good luck and keep your head up. I do have faith for the both of us. Without hope and faith, what else do we (nursing students/graduates--not yet nurses) have?
Keep your head up. Always remember GOD is good no matter what and he loves you. I took the NCLEX Thursday and I have 265 Q's. I actually think I failed it. I had a bad day all yesterday. As I made it to the car, I cried and cried. I really prepared and it clearly was nothing that I could have done to prepare me for what I saw. Pray for me and I will do the same for you. I know what you are going threw. I took the HESI 3 times and passed it on the LAST try (other wise I would not have graduated this May). Keep you head up and remember although I don't know you, I will pray and have faith for you.
Congratulations,
Can I have the full email address of Suzanne4. I have taken the HESI exam for the 3rd time yesterday and did not pass. My school wants a 900 I got 859. I only have one more chance. My anxiety attack during the test is what blew me from passing I think.
Thanks.
Your definetly not a dummy! You couldnt have gotten through nursing school if you were. I was stressing big time between my 2 & 3rd semesters. Blowing tests-all from being completely stressed out. I went and saw a very reputable hypnotherapist. 2 maybe 3 sessions with her helped with my stress level. I had a tape i listened to 1-2 times a day, specifically gearing for nursing tests. This made such a difference. My insurance covered it. I took my RN HESI on monday (passed), took my boards on Tuesday - found out today I passed. I used Suzannes recommendation for preperation and that was it. May be a combination of not having the right study materials and psyching yourself out. I know I was earlier on.Good luck, and hang in there

Please don't feel you are dumb. Try to stay positive that's the only way you'll get through the test again with a pass!!!

No, you're most certainly not a dummy. No one is harder on you than you. It's a setback, yes, but not completely impossible.
Try a different tactic. I know that my NCLEX (taken this morning) had a LOT of priority questions on it and if it wasn't for Kaplan doing their 'stable, stable, eliminate' I probably would have gone mad and beat my head against the screen.
ABC always comes first and in that order. Someone with an airway problem will come first before a profuse bleeder. The rationale? Without air, someone will die quicker than someone who's just bleeding out. I try to think of the total outcome if A happens vs. B.
Other than that everyone has suggested Suzanne's study guide or Kaplan. I found studying in groups helped a lot because sometimes someone would be able to explain something to me in a way that I didn't get before or in a funny manner that made it rememberable.
Good luck and don't give up!
