Am, I in over my head or out of my league?

I'm in my first year of practical nursing and, I have doubts that, I might be too stupid or incompetent compared to people coming out of high school or prehealth with higher grades than me, my high school average was 80%, 79 in Physics, 83 in English, 72 in math, 80 in chem and 85 in bio, I got a 3.8 GPA in PSW. After the first week, I feel like I might be too stupid and out of my league compared to others who are smarter than me.

What does that matter. Did you meet the criteria to graduate?

With two whole sentences of information about you, I'm probably not in a great position to judge your competence.

Well, I did fine with the skills in psw although those are much simpler, the ones in pn will be more complex.

I just started school.

There's an old adage: "Do you know what they call a medical student who graduated last in his class? Doctor."

Don't waste your time comparing yourself to others. Get the grades in school you need to pass and get the job you want afterward. Your classmates won't be paying your bills, anyway.

Your grades are decent. Don't worry about the people who got a few points higher. Maybe work on the math, otherwise, there are many personal factors that go into success.

No patient has ever asked me my GPA. No one has ever asked me my GPA in an interview. Focus on being a nurse, which is a heck of a lot more than a GPA.

People can be book smart, have great GPA's and have no common sense.

I'd rather have a competent nurse or doctor who is a good listener, good at communicating than than someone who graduated at the top of their class.

The goal is to graduate and then pass the NCLEX. After you pass and the state determines that you have met the requirements to become an at least minimally competent entry level nurse and issues you that license to practice with very rare exceptions nobody cares what your grades were in school. Employers care that you have a valid license, they don't care if you got an A or a C in chemistry. I've never heard, not even once of a patient asking their nurse what their grades were in school.
