Am I Freaking Out Over Nothing? New Job At Hospital

My orientation is coming up next week. Meanwhile I've sent in my background check consent. I don't have any records and my last boss is a good friend of my dad's so I thought it was cool.

Then yesterday when my old boss went out with my dad he told him that when the background check folks called, he accidentally gave out the wrong years I worked for him, the duratoin was the same as my resume but the beginning and ending years were off. He was between clients at the time and didn't check his records.

Well they didn't anything of it, espeically since I havn't been contacted by the hospital over this discrepency.

But I'm worried because I was supposed to schedule training with one of the managers and I havn't heard back from him yet.

Is it possible I've already lost my job over this? I mean.... I can easily clear up the confusion, but my dad said don't mention it unless the hospital does. I just hope that the hospital would call me to verify before they write me off. The fact that the manager hasn't called me back to schedule training is throwing me into a mini panic!

But again, my dad said that since they havn't called or anything, that I should probably go to orientation next week and it'll be fine.

I know no one has a crystal ball, but still, what do you think?

I would call the manager that you are supposed to be training with and kinda just ask whats going on, when are we going to start training. Do not bring it up unless they do.

I called today and left a message, but havn't heard back from him. Last time we spoke he returned my phone call within an hour. :uhoh3:

I'm starting to feel like that panic-y girl waiting for a guy to call her for a second date, but I really want this job and don't to lose it over something this rediculous!

Don't you think the hospital would call if they think there's a discrepenchy between my resume and their background check? They would give me a chance to explain right?

It's very likely that he is just really busy. They wouldn't blow you off (or write you off) because of something that could so easily be asked about and fixed. That stuff happens all the time. I'm sure you'll be hearing from them soon.

Could you call your former boss (your dad's friend) and ask him to call your potential employer to correct his mistake? I'm not sure why he didn't do that as soon as he realized his mistake...

He sucks, I know!!! He didn't think it was a big deal. He thought well, if they have a problem they'll call me back and I'll correct it. Meanwhile I got a client to work with.

Have they already offered you the job?

Have they already offered you the job?

Yes! I was so happy when they did! I am supposed to start orientation next week along with further training, which is what I was trying to schedule.

If you've already been offered the job and have no other discrepancy's on your record I wouldn't worry about it.

If your old boss is a friend of your fathers, I would ask your father to kindly ask him to call the Hospital up and note that he was mistaken with the dates.

Since you have already been offered the job and are going to orientation next week, Im sure you have nothing to worry about. Just show up as planned. If they had "changed their mind" about hiring you, Im sure they would have called. I think everything is fine....

I agree with chenoaspirit. Show up at orientation. If they had a problem, they would have called you.

Thank you for the comfort everyone. I've been biting my nails thinking that I would get a letter rescinding my offer tomorrow. Oh yea, my offer was given to me, pending my background check being passed. I dont know if that changes anything.
