True or false?.

Research: Why rates of Alzheimers are much lower in India than in the west?

Scientsts from the University of California say, CURCUMIN, an extract of TURMERIC is a natural antibiotic and appears to reduce amyloid plaques which build up around the brain cells and cause Alzheimers.

Curcuman has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and is a potential preventitive treatment for the disease.

Turermic is found in all CURRYS from mild Korma to the hottest Vindaloo.

Very interesting

Hmmmm....perhaps I should add a can of that to my grocery list from now on. :D

Yes I have read a research study on this before, sometime last year I believe. It was very interesting. It is also interesting to note that I previously read a different research article about spices that showed that curry had the most bacteria and pathogens of any spice marketed in the United States. So if anyone is using curry it is probally a good idea to make sure it is in a dish that is cooked very well.

Yeah... think I'm gonna start sprinkling a couple of ounces of it on my evening meal. :p

PBS is having a show to night on Alzheimers. "The Forgetting" hosted by David Hyde Pierce (Niles on the Frasier Show). His parent is afflicted with Alzheimers.

I love David Hyde Pierce. :)

My paternal grandmother has Alzheimers - it's such a awful, horrible disease. She is in the nursing home now, but sadly I don't visit her nearly as often as I should. I'd so much more like to remember her the way she was, than the way she is now. Does that sound callous of me? :(

I just read the same thing some where. Makes you wonder?

I actually caught some of the pbs show last night, it was very interesting and educational. The website from the show is: http://www.pbs.org/theforgetting/

hope that helps.

Well, at the round table discussion after the presentation, they said the most important thing you could do was to keep visiting your loved one.

Good production. Taped it last night and watched it today.
