Starting a thread for people applying for Spring 2015 at Alvin Community College. Also wondering if anyone knows what counts as proof for Hepatitis B immunity?

Well I just received an email saying that I am now number 7 on the alternate list and I started off at number 13. This is my second email giving me an update. First time I moved from 13 to 11 and now from 11 to 7.

Wow that's awesome. I remember at our orientation meeting they said due to background issues and what not some people were denied which opened up space for someone else. The young lady that was on the waitlist still completed everything on the checklist got a call the day before classes were suppose to start so there is HOPE!!

Hi, everyone. Congrats! derrick86, its awesome to hear that thank God. Shern keep believing ! your next email will be the acceptance letter :):saint:

Here is where I am on my admission check list. Last week I paid for two background check, drug screen. This week I went to submit some documents for FA. While I was in there I went and asked about it TB screening, they said if I got x-ray with in 5 years to show prove, so today I got copy of my x-ray. If any of you have to have x-ray I got an info where to have it done just $40. I took my flu shot, I did figure print and I picked my fitness letter from my Dr.

I want to hear from you guys about the rest of the vaccines that we have to take( Varicella, MMR, Tdap ). The nurse at my doctor office told me to make an appointment and to see my Dr so she can order Lab work before taking the vaccines to see those vaccines level in my body. I took first dose of each of those vaccines in 2005. Any idea guys ? Any of you done with the vaccines ?

I have not order nurse pack and uniform yet. For the uniform the representatives will be coming during the orientation meeting so I am thinking to do it then.

@ethiorn, I just took the immunization sheet/checklist to my physician and they suggested that I run titers. The blood work is to measure whether or not you are immune to the disease. My physician said that most people who grew up and went to school in the US has had most of these done as young kids but I did not have proof of it since my parents home caught on fire when we were younger. You can obtain records of this at your middle/high school but what are the odds. So I think this may be what you are referring to (TITERS) and this is also sufficient for the program. I have since had my TB and Flu Vaccine done.

Oh! Oky. Thanks @FutureRN. Hmm today I went to HR and they gave me the copy of lab results with list of vaccines on it that was done in 2010 it might work. l am going to look at it and take it to the Dr. Thanks a gain:)

Good deal, hopefully that will be sufficient and also save you some money!!! :) Any idea of what type of shoes you plan to purchase or do you already have some?

I hope so, will see. No I don't have one and I have not look in to it yet. I am thinking the uniform company reps might bring variety of shoes so we can choose from during our orientation.

Hello everyone. I am just curious how our class schedule will be in the program. I am planning to work while attending class. I work three 12 per week and is not an easy job. According to the carriculem that they gave us I already took all non-nursing related courses which reduces the load.

Do you know any current or previous Alvin students to ask how their weekly schedule looks like? Please Thanks

I looked at the paperwork and searched the classes, it looks like we have clinical Monday, couple of classes t/th, and then one class Wednesday morning. But I don't know if that's for sure.

@Derrick86, will you be working also or going to school fulltime? & have you completed all pre-reqs or plan to incorporate that into the program?

I am using my phone to post and have some problems. Anyway thanks derric68:) for the info. It looks like we're going to be busy pre much M-T.

@FutureRN what is your plan?

I have all the prereqs complete. I'm getting my EMT license soon, so I'll be doing that while in school.
