Oh thats awesome! I wish I have some medical background/experience. Are you currently at Alvin working on your EMT? So if we need to advice we can come to you right?? lol

Sure does thanks @FutureRN:) we do self schedule in my work place so knowing this help a lot.

OMG! Guys I almost have heart attack. Just received email from Alvin that said I didn't meet the deadline but it's ended up that was for LVN program which I didn't apply for thank God! You might get one don't freak out.

I'm going through RC health services for my EMT. It's just a basic license, so I don't really know much. And I've only done a handful of ride along. I still have to complete my clinical rotations (hospital and ambulance) before I can sit for the exam.

Thanks for the clarification with the schedule!

Lol I received one too and I also didn't apply! But at least for those who did, we know that they (Alvin) are busy working!

Hello, everyone. How is everybody doing? I hope everything thing is going well with you all :)

I believe all of us are transfer students. How did your financial aid process went if you were like me. When I applied FA I added ACC too , so i got grant for 2014-2015 @ HCC and used it for the current semester and when I got accepted in Alvin they told me to go to HCC and cancel the fund for the next semester and I did so I can get it in Alvin . Then Alvin FA sent me email to bring some documents and I did. But they still need more documents I got it and will take it this week. The financial aid advisor email me said the aid will not be ready for spring. Did any of you run through this kind problem?

I got information to share with you there is a foundation called GOOD SAMARITAN FOUNDATION, they give scholarship to nursing students so check their web if you're interested.

Best of luck with you in terms of successfully getting your FA to transfer!! I did not qualify for any aid simply because I have a degree already but there are several other options to get assistance. I have received a full scholarship that covers tuition, books & supplies so those are easy to get and requires little work too!! Please check on Alvin's website for scholarship opportunities & for any nursing organizations or honors programs such as Phi Theta Kappa etc. If I can help in any way please do not hesitate to send a private message to obtain the scholarship info that I used.

Thanks @FutureRN. I have been receving invitation to honors programs and the one i recently received was from Phi Theta Kappa. So is it worth it paying $95 signed up and I don't know how to go about it..I will be contacting you. Thanks a gain for been there and helping out:)

I know that with Phi Theta they offer a waiver of the $95 for some students, it's a drawing done at the initial application/info meeting. I also have a friend who put on her application to HBU that she is a member of Phi Theta Kappa & she received an automatic $5000 scholarship so definitely look into there scholarship opportunities. I'm sure at orientation we will find out more about similar organizations at Alvin CC.

I also have a degree, so I won't qualify for any assistance. I need to apply for scholarships, but I've never done it before. I don't even know where to go..

@futureRN what do you mean "requires little work " when you talk about the scholarship my concern is, if is there an obligation other than the one time payment ? I am really not going to have any time other than N. school and work please clarify it:)

The other thing I want to ask is, for the good semaritan foundation scholarship they need Recommendation Letter so I ask the Dr who I work with and she said what she should write. This is my first time trying to get RL so any idea any of you ?

Thanks
