Alvin Community College ADN Spring 2015

U.S.A. Texas

Starting a thread for people applying for Spring 2015 at Alvin Community College. Also wondering if anyone knows what counts as proof for Hepatitis B immunity?

@Sheri 14. Welcome to the forum. Don't give up! God will make a way out of nowhere but on his time. I faced many disappointing situation trying to get into the program BUT I refused to give up.

My plan B was to apply for Alvin LVN program if I wasn't accepted then to transfer to ADN or LVN-BSN program. It might be less competitive. Is any of you consider this path ?

@ethiorn, I think its a great alternative! Always have a plan B. And apply to several different programs whether LVN, ADN or BSN. Eventually you will get in AND you will still reap the same rewards at the end!

Hey you all, I am considering moving closer to Alvin or surrounding area so if anybody has any referral information or rental properties available please DM me ASAP. Thanks! :)

Hey Everyone - Congratulations to everyone accepted!!! And to those who didn't get in, don't give up!!! I received my rejection email today. Actually I got two rejection emails 1 minute apart. I was not selected for alternate, either. Keeping my fingers crossed for San Jac; I heard they are supposed to let us know on Thursday. Thanks for everyone's support and I wish everyone the very best on their path! God bless!!

Thanks everyone from the bottom of my heart! Words of encouragment mean alot to me right now. I know what is frowned upon when I apply to BSN programs is that I took my prereqs at a slower pace. I took two classes a semester and then took others in the mini-mesters as well as during the summer. It has taken me three years to earn an associates degree, but I am a single mother and I have a full time job. I have prepared myself financially to quit my job until I finish a program. My dream was to enter a BSN program and in 15 months have my bachelors degree. Alvin was my back up plan and to be honest I was accepting the idea that I would have to get another associates degree in order to get my BSN. I am so lost right now. I have worked so hard considering my circumstances. I have a 3.25 science GPA, which I know is not that competetive. But my overall GPA is a 3.5. I have never retook a class ever. I have always pulled threw even if it meant making a B. I also have no experience in the medical field. I work in accounting because my boss is so understanding about my school and she was so accomodating with my schedule and still let me work full time. Also because she understands school and my children come first and regardless I will make up my time and complete my work. I know job experience doesn't matter so they say, but I can't help but notice those getting accepted have experience or volunteer hours in the medical field. @Misskal, I would definately call. Your stats are great and better than mine plus you have a bachelors degree. Trust me alot of those accepted for BSN have previous bachelors degrees. Best of luck to everyone! Also I have a friend with way lower stats than me that was accepted into the fall 2014 class. She says ACC spring semester accepts less applicants. So maybe I will apply to the fall as well. I just hate to think I might be wasting time if I do not get in. Sorry for the long post.

Hello All, for those who received two emails or denial emails please contact Mrs. Karen via email to confirm you status. Do not take let that initial email discourage you cause it very well maybe a mistake.

Congratssssss Beginning15, I saw that you got acceptance into San Jac (which is an excellent program)....see how God works!! Anyone else get any news...any info on those who were on Alvin's waitlist??

Shern14, I just read one of your previous post (not sure how I overlooked it) but if you go back and follow some of the previous post one person was on the waitlist last year and made it pretty far up on the list! The fact that you are waitlisted & did not receive a denial letter is proof that there is still hope for Spring admission. Keep praying and do not count yourself out just yet. Good luck & please keep us updated!! :)

Thank you very much, FutureRN!! Yes, God is good!! I prayed for Him to bless my plans and indeed He did. Thank you, again.

I did receive 2 denial emails from Alvin about a minute apart and I emailed Karen, but didn't hear back. I bet she received a lot of emails.

I am so happy for you! I hope and pray that everyone in the forum is able to get some good news because we have all been working so hard to get to this point. Mrs. Karen asked that we reply by 430pm on 11-3-14 so anything can happen for the other students between now & then...Keep praying!!! :) @Beginning15 Good Luck again on a successful year ahead!!

Hello everyone. I received my acceptance letter for Alvin on Monday. I look forward to meeting all of you. Those that received denial letters or have been put on the wait list please keep your head up. I have been denied by , selected as an alternate for HBU(they still have not responded about a spot), and finally accepted at Alvin. Please don't give up.

Hey you all...Its the start of a new week & I'm hopeful to all who are waiting on acceptance, those on the waitlist and even those who received a denial letter! :) & for those of you who have been accepted, how far have you all gotten on the checklist?
