Alvin Community College ADN-Fall 2017

Nursing Students School Programs

Is anyone applying to ACC ADN program for Fall 2017?

It took a small act of congress and a few other things but I've made arrangements to get a substitute teacher for my last period class tomorrow to attend the meeting. I will just barely get there at three. According to the packet priority admission is given to high scoring HESI, completion of micro, high grades in all ADN prereqs, no withdrawals or failures, those with bachelor's degrees or higher, those who have completed at least 12 hours at ACC, and also to those who live in the Alvin tax area.

That's disheartening. I am applying with the exact same stats so I won't get my hopes up. I read that they also consider how many classes you've taken from the actual nursing program (the ones that are eligible to be taken ahead of time) as well as whether you're in district or out (I'm out :() as well as a few others. Alvin must get some stiff competition, I guess?!

A lot of things play into how someone gets in ! You have great stats tho ! Let's just hope for the best :)

Anyone going tomorrow ? See you guys there !

í ½í¹‹í ¼í¿» I'll be there.

 I'll be there.

See you there !! I wonder if it'll be a full house. I'm coming from Houston so I hope I find my way. It'll be my first time there :-)

Submitted nursing app. today, requested my 4 college transcripts, and HESI transcript be sent. Have all my titers, but will need Hep B and since there's no way to meet the deadline I've requested my childhood medical records hoping my immunizations records are in there.

Just waiting for the nursing application to open up for me since I didn't apply to ACC until last week. All transcripts, immunizations, and HESI score have been sent.

Ickynurse! Wow. Did you have all of the in course classes that are not nursing classes done? I asked last application period what the average scores were since I too was not even on the alternate class. Karen said 3.5 GPA and an 88 HESI. I was in progress of microbiology and Lifespan is why I am guessing I didn't make the alternate list or at least hoping that was why.

I too applied. Here are my stats

GPA 3.85

HESI 92

I am complete with all preqs and courses in the program that are not nursing classes.

I sure hope to at least make the alternate list this time. I applied to San Jac Central and HCC as well. ACC is my first choice though. This semester I am working on my BSN preqs, if I don't get in for Fall 17 I am just going to go that route.

Good Luck!

Hi everyone! I'm currently a student at ACC trying to make her way into the fall semester as well. I have a bachelors in science and do not reside in the ACC tax district.

Obligatory stats:

Cumulative HESI - 94.8%

Reading - 96%

Grammar - 90%

Vocabulary - 96%

A&P - 96%

Math - 96%

Cumulative GPA for courses completed: 3.77

A&P I - A

A&P II - TBD

Composition I - B

Psychology - A

Lifespan - A

Microbiology - TBD

I am feeling really nervous because I looked at previous semesters and it seems like a mixed bag of who gets in and who makes alternate. There's some people who I felt would at least make alternate and did not at all! Plus some people are mentioning that in progress classes hurt their chances and I am not sure if there is any truth to that.

I also just moved back to the area after living out of state for six years so I'm a little oblivious. In the event that I don't get into ACC, I would like to have a Plan B. What local programs are comparable to ACC? I'd love to hear y'all's opinions!

Welcome weegingernurse! Those are great stats! I don't know 100%, but only from my experience applying at ACC last semester, so I'd take it with a grain of sand. I applied last semester with a 4.0 but was "in-progress" in Micro and lifespan. My HESI was 88.4. I did not even make the alternate list. When I emailed to ask why and what the average scores were I was told everyone who got in were complete with preqs and core classes that were not nursing classes with an average GPA of 3.5 and HESI of 88.

This time I am applying with all preqs and core classes done with a 3.85 and HESI of 92. I also applied at San Jac Central and HCC. Both of their deadlines are closing right before ACC so I would look into them asap if you want to apply to more than one school. I also don't know if you are aware that UTMB and UTHSC have accelerated programs that are 5 semesters as well, but you would be done with your BSN instead of ADN since you already have a bachelors in science.

Hope this helps, those are amazing stats so keep your head up!

I had all the pre-reqs done, but not from Alvin. I don't reside in Alvin either. I think it may also depend on a lot of factors like how many attempts you took for HESI and the courses repetitively.

good luck to you, your scores are pretty good though.

Hi WeeGingerNurse! :) Those are GREAT stats!

Given that you already have a BA, I would certainly consider applying to a BSN program like UTMB since it is the same amount of time, but you end with a BA rather than just an associates!

I am applying to ACC with microbiology and lifespan in progress, and I also live out of district and have never taken classes at ACC (I attend San Jac currently). Considering all of this, I am not counting on being accepted, but I figured it couldn't hurt to try!

I have a 92 overall Hesi score (1 attempt only) and my GPA is 3.95.

I have applied to San Jacinto where my rubric score is a 22 and I think I have a decent shot of being accepted. I am hearing less than positive things about their program however, so I'm actually nervous about the possibility of getting in!
