Is anyone applying to ACC ADN program for Fall 2017?

Hi Mermaid. Glad you're here! I live in Houston, too. :)

Welcome Mermaid_Your stats are great! You stand a very good chance.

gahhhh I hope so. At this point in my life I will go anywhere if I was accepted...haha

Hi Mermaid. Glad you're here! I live in Houston, too. :)

Hey ! I live in midtown so the drive out to Alvin wont be THAT bad. I'm willing to drive even further haha

To make sure I understand this right, we should just be brining proof of our immunizations to the meeting? I got my series when I was small , but I see in their packet they say the shot has no expiration and the titer has to be within 5 years.

Looks like I'm out guys. I have credits from my old school back in California and see ACC's list of their required elective course. I have spanish and philosphy for the language/phil portio and have dance appreciation and intro to music for my creative arts, but neither of those are the wanted creative arts................*sighs* I am so mentally exhausted and frustrated with all these schools wanting different things.

Update: Just had a thought. If the program begins in August is it possible to take one of the creative arts classes they want in the summer prior to the start of the program or must everything be completed?

Hey Mermaid...I don't think you're out. The program prerequisites for your application to be considered are A&P 1 and 2, Psyc, and English. You can call just to confirm, but I'm pretty sure that the electives can be done during the summer.

Hi all! I am working on my application now, and am also applying to San Jac Central. My composite Hesi score is a 92 (96 in A&P and Reading- it was my rusty math that got me!) and I have A's in all prerequisites. I know Alvin is so competitive so I'm just hoping I have a shot! Has anyone heard first hand accounts of Alvin's program vs. San Jacinto's? I'm hearing mixed reviews about San Jac's program, though that is where I've completed all of my prerequisites thus far.

im wondering if it might be worthwhile to take the Hesi again in an attempt to get a higher score.

Good luck to everyone! Let's keep each other posted!

I'm seriously considering applying, but haven't just yet. I still have to hear back from 2 BSN programs for Fall and hate the thought of spending 2 more years for just an ADN, when the BSN programs are only 15 months.

Hey Brandon! That's absolutely true; if you have the prerequisites competed for a BSN program, it would certainly make more sense to go that route! However, it never hurts to apply to any schools you might consider as you can always turn down acceptance to a school. It's nice to have a backup plan or two should your ideal path not work out.

Best of luck to you!

I decided to go ahead and apply, so now I'm waiting on my main app to go through so I can apply for the program. I do have a question that hopefully someone here can answer, since I called the school and everyone is off for Spring break. According to their website they require your Hep B to either be complete or at least the first 2 doses before the application deadline. Every other school I've applied to only requires it to be complete by school start date. I've had all my titers done and Hep B is the only thing I need to do and with the immunization schedule it is impossible for me to get two doses done in time. Has anyone else dealt with this or spoke to someone at the school about it?

Thanks

Hi all! I know many of you are also in the UTMB/UTHealth forms. I'm applying to both of those but also to ACC and to San Jac Central. At this point I just want in. One question I did have regarding ACC, I am currently a teacher and I am absolutely unable to make any of the meetings as I really can't take any days off the rest of this school year. Do any of you know if it is possible to fax over or scan via email over our immunizations and just fill out the application after this? My stats are as follows:

HESI overall: 90

Math- 88

A & P- 88

Grammar- 92

Vocab- 92

Reading- 90

Critical Thinking- 950

Science GPA 3.35

Cumulative GPA- 3.56

BS in Psychology

Masters in Curriculum and Instruction

Masters in Educational Leadership and Administration

I had a HESI score of 92 and A's in pre-requisite when I applied for Spring semester and I was not even in the alternate list. There must be some other criteria used in the selection

That's disheartening. I am applying with the exact same stats so I won't get my hopes up. I read that they also consider how many classes you've taken from the actual nursing program (the ones that are eligible to be taken ahead of time) as well as whether you're in district or out (I'm out :() as well as a few others. Alvin must get some stiff competition, I guess?!
