Alright, I'll start! MDC Fall 2013

Published

Why hello there, fellow students!

You can call me Cedeno, and I'll be applying for the MDC nursing program for fall 2013! I've been excited for awhile now, especially since MDC (and all its red tape) has delayed my intended apply date twice (originally Fall 2012, then Spring 2013). Ah, but no worries!

Right now I'm taking my last bit of classes before applying: A&P 2 w/lab, Micro, and Critical Thinking/Ethics. I've seen many nursing students this semester-- which is wonderful-- but at the same time I think two words when I meet another pre-nursing student: "Awesome! :x3: " and "Competition! :wideyed: " (Not seriously, but in a jokey kind of way.)

Once admitted, I'd love to form a study group. Size isn't quite so much the priority as cohesiveness is (though size counts!). I'd love study mates who like to utilize chats like Google talk, Skype, Kik, etc. for times when perhaps we'd like to study something but cannot make it to a physical location.

I'm a visual and auditory learner, so I love highlighters, dry-erase boards, and discussing questions together to ensure everyone understands rather than one person offering up the answer and others just accepting it without knowing.

Ah! I've managed to turn this into an ad for study mates! :o I'm just excited and hope there are other potential classmates here on AN. Please pop in and say hello! Let's talk GPAs, TEAS scores, whatever!

....Also if you take the TEAS twice is it highest score used or last test taken?

GOOD LUCK! :cat:

Stats:

Expected final science GPA: 3.67

TEAS score: n/a

Ain't that the truth. I got the app on my phone so I can check more often. Welcome

Ahh man you shouldn't have told me there was an app, haha downloading NOW!

@Mary - this is the most inexpensive one I have heard of. If there is something closer that more of us would like to attend, I would be willing to do that. Alecia was looking for a least one another person to do the course with her. I live around SW 200 ST so it is a bit of drive for me, but not horrible.

@Ally - Enjoy the time with your son and friends while you can! I think during the program we will be busy (especially the first two semesters from what I'm told), but I think we will be able to manage a mini social life throughout the program. I guess it depends on the person. That's great that you have a job to keep you busy (and to pay for the program). I work 30-40 hours a week at a vet's office so that'll keep me busy for the summer. I'm also hoping to go on a mini-vacation for a few days in July.

Hi Guys, OK, let me ask you: Can I write inSpanish because it is my first language? Probably, all of you who have applied toMDC speak Spanish. I don’t care if you answer me in English, and I understand.

Well, I applied for the program full time and part time generic generic in nursing. In the teas test did not go out very well, I have finished CONUN 71.3 and 38 in the sciences giving me a combined score of 80.78 Some say it is enough, others not, it depends. I think in real life depends on others who have applied. Please appreciate an answer, some of you have the same score. Know some people who have been selected with 80. Good luck to all. My most wishes.Blessings.

I am sorry, no problem.appreciate your reply. Take care.

Wow thanks for the info on the score and number of applicants...that just made me more nervous :(

But I have faith! And we are now in June!!!!!!! Well tomorrow.

Yeah Tati, unfortunately it kinda opened my eyes and made me more nervous too! Geez I wish I had money to go on vacation, so I can take my mind off MDC, Nursing, and all related terms!!!!

I went to MDC yesterday an%, 170 applications for the FT transitional and 78 seats available with the highest overall score of 95.7. I didn't ask about AO. Once they finish reviewing applications the computer dpt will enter all scores and do the "ranking" then emails are sent, this would be at least 2-3 weeks from today.

Question: why would you guys want to go to key largo for CPR when there are multiple places to do it in Miami with flexible schedules and closer to us? Just asking!

Hey did u speak to an advisor in medical campus or north, bc I spoke to an advisor the supervisory n they told me there was a lot less applications for th ft generic... did they tell you what the average overall score for this semester was.

Tati n mayor, dont stress youll get in...

Wait, so if we start August 2013 for FT Generic we graduate in December 2014? Sorry to ask again but I gotta confirm. I was under the impression we'd graduate May/June 2015

FT is 4 semesters back to back. There are no summers off. So yes if admitted in Fall 2013 you would start in Aug and finish in Dec 2014

Thanks for the encouragement lexibabi! :)

@Marilyn yes, if you start the generic FT this august you will finish December 2014! :D:D
