Yes we use pearson. ATI is out and mdc doesn't use it anymore. Yes you have to pass a standardized Pearson test at the end of each class to move on to the next semester. But don't worry about that now, you will learn about it in orientation.

Ok here goes.. -Yes, I'm in FT Generic, first semester. We are 100 students and divided into 2 groups, which we call sequences, and that determines our schedules. I have class on Tuesday, and Wednesday so I'm on campus from 8 am to 4pm. I have one clinical on Fridays from 7-2. Mondays and Thursdays I'm off. The other sequence is similar but they only have one day off. Accelerated is a whole other ball game. I got accepted to Accelerated as well but declined cuz of the schedule. I don't know specifics but it's everyday. If you want to know specifically, just go to the mdc class search and look up the classes from the school of nursing website that are listed under 1st semester in the curriculum. Then you will get an idea. -Yes, we started Clinicals. Clinicals start about 5 weeks into the semester and you will have two rotations. You will first go into an Nursing home and then an hospital. -Initially, you NEED a stethoscope and I would recommend going with a better brand like Littman. In orientation they will tell you not to buy the expensive one because you may lose it, but the once you get to your classes the professors will tell you it's worth the money. Plus with the cheap ones you will struggle with hearing breath and heart sounds clearly. A Littman will range from $70-100. You need a watch with a second hand and you need at least one set of the green scrubs and one of the white tops for clinicals. -The workload is heavy. I had to quit my part time job 2 weeks into the semester because I got real sick because of stress. It's a lot of studying. Think of it this way, for every hour of lecture. You need about 2-3 hours study time. -We have to separate class sequences. Everyone in my sequence has the same classes as I. I see them all the time and we are like family. They only split us up into smaller groups of 8-12 for skills and clinicals and health assessment. But for lecture and pharmacology there are 50 students. -So far we have 3 dropouts and we all feel for them because we all know how hard it is to get this far. They all dropped out because of stress unfortunately. -The professors don't talk about nclex per say, they just make quick refernces. You don't need an nclex book or study guide until 2nd semester, so that's one less expense. -I don't think the passing rate is that low. I believe it's in the high 90 bbut don't quote me on that. You can look it up for sure on Floridas RN licensing website. -My instructors are great. I love them, for the most part. Lol. Some are not so great because they expect you to know everything off the bat send they try to intimidate you. But that's only a couple. Most of them are great and don't go by what it says on rate my professor! It's completely inaccurate. -Well I have pretty good study habits but the biggest adjustment is that I have to study so frequently and consistently. I have a bachelor's and didn't study this much in the 4 years combined. So being on a set schedule to study, in order to cover all the material, I would say that's been the most difficult. Remember you won't be able to memorize everything. You just have to know the concepts. -It's about 1 male to every 10 females. - Yes, you must wear your green scrubs for class. You won't be allowed into class for scrubs. Every class. Whenever you go to campus, you have to wear them. On campus you can wear any shoes but for clinicals they must be completely white. So I guess that's another thing you should look into buying. -I am at medical campus and there is no gym. The closest gym is at Wolfson campus at downtown I believe. -Last thing I can suggest is drink lots of coffee, make sure you buy all your books, and don't let stress get the best of you! Easier said then done, right?? Lol Hope this helped guys!!

Congrats to everyone again! I can't decide whether to choose AO or Generic FT....who's doing Generic Ft at medical campus?? And who's doing AO?

Remember that those that got into two programs will be declining seats and that will open up seats for others so just have faith!

OMG IM IN!!!! Holy mother of baby Jesus! I got into Accelerated and FT Generic! I'm crying and screaming and almost gave my boyfriend and my dad a heart attack!!!! Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!! So how about that coffee!!!!

Surprisingly enough, I have a sense of peace today as opposed to other days. I don't have that sense of urgency and anxiety to check my email. Maybe its a sign, but I don't know for what. I'm moving this weekend so at least I havve something to distract me ....good luck everyone!

@jakagi same here, second degree... Tomorrow is the day!! I've been feeling June 13 for awhile! Last fall they received some letters June 12 and most people June 13!!!
