Almost instant rejections

Well, I just placed 3 more applications at a hospital in Louisville. Even though every application I place with them gets rejected usually the same day I apply. I'm not going to quit applying. Of course everywhere I apply lately sends out almost immediate rejection letters. I wonder if an actual person screen them or does the computer?

I am bound and determined to get a job at a hospital in KY as I can't afford to move out of state again. I'm going back for my BSN to increase my marketability. All I want is an interview and that seems to be impossible to get in this state anymore. At least it is for me.

Bless your heart. I know you feel very frustrated. What about looking for a nursing job in a LTC or a local health department? I have several friends who work at the LHD's and really enjoy public health nursing. The pay will not be equal to what you could make at a hospital initially, but you will gain a lot of experience and can market yourself better.

Good luck

Eastern KY is part of KY, too! Look at Pikeville.

I know how you are feeling right now, I am in ohio from ky and am having the hardest time ever! There are several openings in the local hospitals for LPNs that i have applied for and i get instantly denied as well. I think it may be my lack of experience, I have 1 year in. But there is nothing in LTC either. Its frustrating. So much for "You will never be rich, but you'll always have a job" haha

At least you got a reply! For many of my job apps a couple years ago, I received no response at all.

I usually do not get replies either when I apply. The ones that do respond and set up interviews, I usually never hear from after the interview. I know companies are not suppose to discriminate, but I think when they find out I am 60 years old, they reject me for someone younger. I have not worked hands on care since 2004, but I have been a Case Manager for many years. I can't even find a job in my field, or any other nursing job.

I personally think I'm rejected due to the length of time I've now been out of school despite now being in an RN to BSN program. I've also had a few people tell me that perhaps the school I received my ADN from is the problem, which I find hard to believe since I know of many graduates who have not had nearly my trouble in finding a job. I've had many suggest LTC, but I know in my heart of hearts that I hate LTC. Why work someplace you hate? Yes, it's a paycheck, but I have a hard time justifying to myself to do the "take whatever you can get" mindset. That's part of what got me into this job situation in the first place. Taking just anything, especially something you hate doing is not good advice imho.

I keep trying even though. I'm not hoping for my dream job, just a hospital one. I'm not naive enough to think I'll get into a specialty after that dream was dashed before it ever really took off. I'm just looking for a hospital position in a place where there is room and encouragement for learning and advancement in the profession.
